We were put into this hotel after the prince of Wales hotel overbooked us ,(both britania hotels)the room was dirty the bedding dirty ,the bathroom floor tiles were all loose and dangerously sharp edges ,dirty tissues thrown on top of wardrobe, and very loud music coming from the bar kept us awake until 1 30 in the morning ,my emails have been ignored ,we were looking forward to staying in the prince of Wales and were given no warning of the overbooking ,

Room Tip: As high up as possible to not hear the very loud music

After failing to get service elsewhere called in for a quick drink. It was cheap and the beer was ok. It was not very clean and needs a refurb.
It wasn't improved by the two very loud and swearing drunks sat at the bar that were laughing and joking with the male working the bar. Considering the people in there I would have thought the guy behind the bar would have told them to tone it down. Will be unlikely to call again.

Reading the reviews after I had booked meant my expectations were very low!. The hotel definitely has that unloved feeling, staff too were quite low in esteem, with the exception of Jade on reception, she is the star that all reception staff could learn from. We had a family room for two adults and two children 10 & 7. One of the put up beds was broken on arrival, towels and cups etc were only for two people. The bed was changed after we pointed out the problem for one that was not much better, the missing items never arrived. Our room was on the second floor at the side of the hotel above all the smoking areas, as the hotel has a nightclub that is open late it was extremely noisy. Breakfast had to be queued for each morning. The food was ok, but like everything else was just average. This is definitely an OAP coach party type venue. All that said we had booked a cheap couple of days away, spent very little time in the hotel, and it sufficed our needs. Would I go back?, probably not. But as I said at the start Jade really did make a difference and she is the only reason this review is not more negative than it is.

Room Tip: Not sure there is one.

Overall, think most of the previous comments are fair.
Had a girly overnight stay.
The hotel is old & tired & very much in need of a refurb but that said for what you pay, you can't really complain.
A bit disappointed with the food but didn't go hungry. Not enough staff in the 'restaurant'.
i wouldn't stay here for a special occasion, but would possibly go again.

Only used the hotel as a base to visit family in Southport. To be honest it was adequate, for the money we paid it would be unfair to criticise the quality of the hotel. In all the property is pleasent enough but it's let down by bodge-jobs throughout. This isn't creaky floorboards, this is a broken aircon unit just covered in paint and left in the bar, no varnishing for decades on tables and wonky benches. Silly things let it down in the room (320) such as a TV remote with just one battery and a broken shaving mirror?
My opinion is that this shouldn't warrant a complaint, it is just laziness from the top and not looking at your hotel. In all, good staff, doubtlessly overworked managers, good accommodation team, lazy and frankly useless maintenance and a poor hotel management company. Britannia hotels are all the same, a shoddy poor excuse of a hotel brand.

Made the mistake of not reading trip advisor before booking this hotel. We booked bed breakfast and evening meal for a one night stay. In all we stayed for one hour, there are beggars outside the hotel, drunks in the downstairs pub. No parking is available, we walked in to the 'restaurant' and walked back out again it was like a poorly run nursing home. This hotel is completely run down and though we didn't stay there was no refund so beware before you book. The room was not fit to stay in and smell was awful in the hotel. Don't go near the Scarisbrick, I did park at its sister hotel Prince of Wales which looked cleaner as an alternative.
