Do not go to this cafe, it's overpriced fir a start. The staff lied to me. They told me 15 mins wait for fish and chips. Kept me waiting over 45 mins saying just another five mins. Eventually I asked for my money back, which they got wrong too but I was too upset at the time to notice. Ruined my baby's first day at the beach, he'd had his dinner (we'd brought it with us) while we waited for ours and he wanted to play. Wasted a whole hour here and still no dinner. Staff were rude and unhelpful. Only had chance to go on the beach for half an hour as had wasted so much time of our two hour visit waiting for food. Three other customers also asked for their money back whilst I was in the cafe.

“Marine Lake Cafe”

Apologies that this has to come under "Southport Marina" but no page of its own. Visited Marine Lake Cafe on a day when the sun was shining, and wanted to sit outside to enjoy some fish and chips.

First off, the positive - the entertainment was good (an Elvis act) and the one star I've awarded was for this one positivity!

The queue for food was ridiculous, although could forgive it being busy given the warm weather. The fish and chips was massively overpriced, and we didn't even buy a soft drink because of this. All 4 of us who ate were VERY disappointed. The portion of chips was tiny for the £6.95 paid, and the fish was completely tasteless. We had to pay 35p for a tiny pot of mayonnaise, but thankful for this as it was needed to attempt to mask the taste of oil left in our mouths from the disgusting fish. Each of us left half our meals, as it really was horrible, and this wasn't even questioned when staff cleared the plates away.

We would NOT return here or recommend to anyone wanting to enjoy fish and chips in Southport. I'd suggest finding somewhere else to sit to enjoy the entertainment on a nice day!

We have taken our dog in the motorhome to this site on 2 occasions now, the site belongs to the scout movement. It is small and very tidy with friendly helpful staff.
Lots of children and older youths are brought to the site by parents and school supervisors to learn sailing skills and it is pleasant to watch them learning the drill whilst we enjoy a cuppa.
The site is adjacent to the promenade and easy walking distance to the town centre.
Dogs are welcome on a lead

Excellent structure over the River pleasant walk down to promenade as lots of things to do,shopping, train rides along the pier, but as a tendency at night to be filled with bikers a little intimidating, well constructed and well lit at night time, no boats or yachts on the river would have been nice to sit at our hotel on Marina Lakeside and see some activity on the water.

“pleasant walks”

the gardens around the marina are fairly well maintained, however there was litter everywhere that had even gone into the water, so much so that it was all around the edge and the beautiful swans and ducks were swimming and nesting amongst it!
