“A really good B &B”

If you are looking for a place to stay in Southport then this is a really good B & B. lovely rooms, exceptional breakfast and friendly and informative hosts. Parking available which was great. Stairs to all bedrooms, something to consider if you have mobility issues.

Mam and I visited Southport weekend of the airshow. We stayed at the Waterford hotel and i am so pleased we did. Paul showed us to room and even helped carry our bags. We were also brought tea and warm cakes. A warm welcome and great first impression. Great location for everything. we had room with lovely views over the lake and sea in the very far distance. Lovely bathroom with toiletries and nice soft white towels. sheets etc. Soft pillows and comfy clean beds. Heating in room was very efficient if required. We didnt need this as weekend was boiling hot weather. Tea, biscuits, and savouries to pick for supper and bottled water in the fridge too. Breakfast was totally an experience, so relaxed and everything and anything to eat. Paul even brought me my guilty pleasure with my fried bread one morning. Hot and cold menu all brought to table. lovely and fresh. Fab strong tea and variety of breads for toast. could go on and on. Everywhere immaculate. Lots of little touches that make this little hotel so special. Well done to Paul and Trina for maintaining such high standards. Best hotel ever will definately be back

Room Tip: Rooms on front have lovely views of the lake

Wanted somewhere for one night for a romantic break, booked at short notice.
Very efficient booking experience, great location towards the end of the marina, easy to find. On-site parking (v. useful). Warm welcome. Lovely room with view over marina.
Beautifully presented breakfast, with wide selection of choice.
Paul, the owner, was full of charm and local information.

Room Tip: We had a room on the front which had good views over the marina and shore. There are rooms at the b...

Unlike a lot of 'Seaside B&B's/Hotels, this hotel must be the standard that all others should wish to emulate. The proprietors were charming, and provided a most enjoyable stay. We were there during the busiest weekend of the year and the on-site parking proved a real bonus.

We arrived a little early but our room was already prepared, spotlessly clean with fresh towels and a beautiful counterpane and cushions on the large double bed. The en-suite bathroon was pristine with fresh toiletries and large fluffy towels. TheLCD television was positioned on the wall at the bottom of the bed, so we watched TV whilst having a lie-in on Sunday morning.

Although there were tea making facilities in the room (which we used early the following day before breakfast) our hosts had prepared a tray of tea, cakes and biscuits which we enjoyed in the small bar on the ground floor. The room had a small fridge with milk and bottled water, and on top a tray of assorted chocolate biscuits which we cleared at 1.30 a.m. after a very pleasant night out at the local Brasserie (recommended by Paul) and the Casino.
Breakfast the following morning was a real delight, with an excellent selection of food and freshly prepared cafatiere coffee. A morning paper service might be something to consider for the future.

The hotel generally caters for the more mature, discerning traveller. Most of the other guests were of a similar age to ourselves, which provided a more sedate atmosphere - no banging doors or loud voices in the middle of the night!

I would certainly recommend this hotel without reservation. It is in an excellent location and the hosts have a real feel for the needs of their guests, and know how to maintain the standards of a 5 star Hotel.

We made a spring trip to Southport to visit family. We selected the Waterford through TripAdvisor, and we were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the facility and the genuine warmth of our hosts, Paul and Trina. The room was well furnished, the bed was quite comfortable, and the bathroom was sparkling and spacious. The breakfast room and the lounge were impressive. Our four nights at the Waterford were relaxing and refreshing.

Paul and Trina had a lot to do with making our stay comfortable. They were genuinely welcoming and accommodating. We arrived mid-morning, but our room was ready and we were immediately moved in. From that time until we left four mornings later, Paul and Trina worked hard to ensure we were well cared for. They paid attention to the little details that make a stay at any hotel memorable. Of particular note was the breakfast fare. Paul donned a nice shirt and snappy tie to serve exceptional meals made by Trina. The presentation was classy and the food itself was delicious.

Later in the same trip, we stayed at other hotels in London, Paris, and Barcelona. All of those other hotels were nice, but none of them was as personable as the Waterford.

The plush furnishings and top quality service made our stay here most enjoyable.
We booked a couple of rooms for 4 of us to celebrate a certain (60th!) birthday for one of our party. That said, we were the youngest in the hotel (amongst several older visitors).
The 2nd floor would be quite a climb (no lift?), so the younger 2 of us were tucked away up there, in a beautiful en-suite room, fully equipped with robes, quality toiletries etc. Quality furniture, perfectly clean, and a lovely fully-equipped en-suite bathroom.
Breakfast - well! that was an absolute work of art - whatever we ordered, it came beautifully presented - even with an edible flower etc on the side. Beans on toast, Full English, Scrambled Egg....
The little bar area where we enjoyed drinks before going out & about, serves drinks in crystal glasses with ice & a slice, and the best branded makes - no supermarket specials here!
Although not the cheapest hotel in Southport, you certainly get what you pay for at The Waterford; and having popped into more than one of the larger hotels in town during our stay, and seen the public areas & facilities to compare it with, all I can say is - it's a little bit dearer but ... I'm glad we were staying there!
Talking out & about - places worth a visit :- The Inn Beershop, 657 Lordstreet (real ale shop with bar at back - add 50p to "drink in"); Salvatores Italian Restaurant (Saturday Special includes entertainment); Saahil Indian Restaurant, 665 Lord St (Sunday Buffet - now licensed)
