Just returned from a wonderful 1st visit to the Waterford hotel, Southport, Will return again for sure.
The hotel is situated adjacent to the promenade with excellent views across the Marine lake and along the promenade.A few minutes walk takes you to either the pier, or go the other way and you are on Lord street, for the shopping.
Paul & Trina are on hand to welcome you on arrival, and nothing seems to be to much bother for your stay. What a lovely couple. They seem to do all the various tasks themselves, and what a job they do make of it.
Where should I start?
Ok then, what about cleanliness? Absolutely spotless, no doubt about it.
Rooms ! lovely rooms , clean , well presented, ours had a bay window from which we could sit and watch the activities on the lake and along the promenade. Freeview tv. Fridge, hospitality tray which puts other hotels to shame, comfy beds. if you can find a fault you must be extra fussy!
Breakfast ! Well, again this couple go the extra mile or six to make sure all is well. All food is prepared fresh. Everything is very well presented from fruit plate to cooked breakfast, ommelette or the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. None of the usual buffet trash which is put out at the start and eventually removed. All fresh, as requested. We have stayed in large well known hotels and on cruise ships, but the breakfasts here are amazing. Leaves others standing.
Need local information , perhaps about where to visit, where to eat at night ? ask Paul or Trina, their knowledge is astounding.
1st visit! Would we go back again? I think that by reading the above comments you can guess the answer to that question. YES.
Thank you Paul & Trina, for all your hard work. Hope to see you again at some point.

Room Tip: ask for a lake view.

As one of the 10 golf tourists with Mark K, I can back up his comments - the best B&B I have stayed in, couldn't fault it in any way and the hospitality from Paul &Trina completed the package.

I booked this hotel for our annual golf tour of 10 middle aged golfers based on Tripadvisor recommendations. Trina and Paul made us so welcome and the standard of the accommodation was first rate. Breakfasts were superb and the rooms spotless with excellent facilities. I cannot recommend their establishment too highly.

Room Tip: Stayed in Room 1 - excellent, and with views.

We have just spent the last three days in Southport, never having visited previously, and the Waterford Hotel owners Paul and Trina made the visit more pleasurable by their professionalism from the moment of booking our reservation, to our arrival. We were given help and advice regarding where to eat and what may be of interest to visit. The room we were allocated was very spacious and clean. Breakfast was a relaxing meal and a great pleasure before we started out on our day, and the quality of the food and the presentation could not help but impress. It would be impossible not to highly recommend this Hotel. Paul and Trina present such a professionalism that I am sorry to say is not found in many hotels these days. I can only say a big thank you for making our visit even more memorable.

I,like you read the reviews on Tripadvisor now before I book accomodation or go to a restaurant. So when booking a trip to Southport from Canada with my 88 year old mom required some research on where to stay. Quickly I found that the Waterford Hotel was the top rated hotel in Southport, and therefore became the obvious choice for a few night`s stay. The following is what we discovered about the Waterford Hotel and why it is such an excellent choice for you too!

I want to do some justice to the quality of ownership that we found at the Waterford and the special care and attention that we received as well. Truly we felt like we were part of the family and were treated graciously and with great care and attention. Additionally we were fed in grand style, and housed in luxurious comfortable surroundings. The Waterfor Hotel is a very well kept and tastefully throughout and decorated period style facility that is conveniently located on the north end of the Southport Promenade, in a quiet and peaceful area, that is also very close to downtown. You are just 2 blocks from Lord st. and all of its`attractions, yet without the unwanted noise, bustle and night time disturbances, but well within casual walking distance, in an area of substantial homes and buildings. Parking is available in front of the building at no charge. Wireless internet was also available, which adds to value and convenience.
Our room was large, spacious and beautifully decorated and furnished, it was very comfortable and relaxing. The bathroom was clean, modern and plush. We had large panoramic windows with expansive views of the Marine Lake, just looking out from our room was very relaxing and when the sun poured in it was very soothing. The Waterford provides quiet comfortable luxurious accomodations, but the best is yet to come!

I am talking about service, yes, service. This is what makes the Waterford so unique and why you should stay here. Service, a word now lost somewhere back in the last century and not too easily found in present day, yet we found it in abundance at the Waterford Hotel.
Yes it started when we first arrived, actually before with our emails as we discussed our booking, which were friendly and responsive. However once we arrived we discovered an unmistakeable pride of ownership and the knowledge of what a customer really needs and want to be comfortable and feel at home. There is no front desk drama or constant personel changes, which lead to different levels of expectations that occur when you are being tended to by hired staff or management because the ownership is located in a distant boardroom far from where you are staying.
Paul and Trina are your hosts and owners, everything is done very tastefully and very casually.
Our days started with the most delicious and freshly prepared breakfasts that you could ever imagine. Lots of choice variety for your taste requirements stay includes breakfast, which was absolutely fantastic, you'd think you were in a 4 star restaurant simply superb, with lots of choices, all freshly prepared, healthy, warm and temptingly delicious.

I really can't say enough about the quality of the accomodation and the warmth and friendliness of our hosts at the Waterford. This is rated the #1 establishment in Southport, and we found out why that is so true when we had the good fortune and pleasure to stay here in the Summer of 2012, I can't wait to come back here again in the Summer of 2013. Thank you Waterford Hotel for the excellence in all areas!
