We have stayed at this hotel a few times, we have never been disappointed. Yes, the rooms need updating But they are clean with nice percale striped clean sheets. The management are now currently refurbishing. The food is always delicious and we have never had any reason to complain. This time we stayed in January. When we arrived we had been up graded to a family room at no extra charge. We had asked if we could bring our dog.We did not even have to pay a supplement. The room was lovely and warm. We could adjust our own radiators which is not possible these days in a lot of hotels. We will continue to book in here as the hotel is on the main beachfront, the food in the restaurant is lovely and the staff helpful. We accidentally left a bag and the management said they would post it on.Many thanks for a nice stay.

Room Tip: Go deluxe for bigger bathroom

We booked direct with the hotel after someone telling us about it in November, so we thought for the price £25 for the Sunday night with breakfast was excellent, and decided we would book 2 nights away for our wedding anniversary. After reading the reviews we didn't know what to expect, but really glad we booked, the reception staff were friendly and welcoming, room was clean and warm, tea/coffee making facilities with stocks replemished each morning and clean towels both days, all that you would expect. Breakfast on both mornings was excellent, choice of fresh orange juice, tea/coffee, cereal toast and a full cooked breakfast, or whatever you wanted, you really could not complain. Will definitely book a gain

I booked here at last minute as was visiting an ill relative, so really just needed a base.

This met my expectations- it served a purpose and we had an adequate stay- I certainly wouldn't agree with the 4* rating though.

I'd read the reviews about the tiny parking spaces, but this car park really is very tight- you really must be confident with parking to even attempt these spaces when the car park is full. If you are nervous, there is paid parking on the promenade.

The welcome was nice and pleasant and we were given the keys to our basic room.

The room and bedding was clean- which is all we really wanted. Quite a few niggles though which bothered us even though we were only sleeping there- so I can imagine that holidaymakers will find it more frustrating.

The tea/coffee making facilities were on a desk (but no power socket!) We had to boil kettle using another plug socket on the floor by the bedroom door.
The bathroom was incredibly damp- there was an awful smell (Room #10) but there was no-one around for us to tell. Each time we passed the Reception desk it was unmanned, and it was also unmanned when we checked out, so we couldn't provide feedback. We didn't really want to mention it to the restaurant staff. There wasn't a phone in the room, so we couldn't call down either.

Postive points though were that the bedding was really clean and soft (some comfort despite the bumpy mattress) and the breakfast was excellent!

We'd only paid £46/night and we would have happiky paid £10 for the breakfast so all in all it was a very good deal.

It is a great location for guests who want to go into Southport, and it is likely that I would book this hotel again if needed a base but I expect I'd upgrade my room and not go for the lead-in room category. Needs a little TLC in rooms.

On arrival with my wife and asked to pay up front we were not happy upon opening the door to be greeted with what was a slightly larger than normal single bed and was in fact made up for one person (This was confirmed by the fact that only one cup/saucer was next to kettle) Also only a thin duvet was on bed. The room itself was much too small for a supposedly double room with no wardrobe and not even a coat hook in room although there was no room for one anyway, hence clothes stayed in bag and coats went on the floor. After speaking to reception she added a cup/saucer pillows and extra quilt.
Breakfast in morning was fine.Large flat screen TV in room was great although probably too big for that room. There was no DVD as stated. En-suite was clean but toilet pan was discoloured the shower was very good, considering how small the room was but they had utilized all space available. I feel that £55 pounds was a lot for the size of the room since when arriving home and looking at other reviews other people paid a lot less... avoid room 9...

Room Tip: Check out room before paying up front

We booked this hotel and had to cancel due to seeing previous comments on trip advisor and booked a room at the Ramada which was very nice.

We cancelled 3 days prior to our visit as per the conditions on Booking.com at 14:15 on the Tuesday as we were due to arrive on the Friday. Our credit card was debited by the amount of the booking. This was only £35.00 which in the grand scheme of it is not very much.

When we first contacted the hotel they told lies stating that they had not received notification from Booking.Com.

After contacting Booking.Com who informed me that I had cancelled at 14:15 on the Tuesday, that I was technically out of time. Booking.Com said that they had sent a notification to the hotel. I rang the hotel back, a gentleman was very rude and arrogant on the telephone. I informed him that I was going to leave bad feedback.

I am not too worried about losing £35.00 and the small print of the contract for being out of time is my fault. However, being lied to on my initial enquiry instead of an honest explanation is a big issue for me. So is the attitude of the member of staff on the second phone call.

This hotel is cheap for a reason. They do not have the customer service that goes with this sort of business. Most times you get what you pay for. However, with the customer service they provide I would not pay buttons for this hotel. STAY CLEAR

Room Tip: Go to another hotel.

We got a booking from an online site and go a very good price for bed and breakfast. The hotel is a listed building and so they still have single glazing in the rooms, which, in our room was noisy because of the gale force winds that were blowing and also was draughty around the opening part. Maybe they culd put some foam type draught excluder in the gap. The room was warm enough once the curtains had been pulled across. The beds were OK especially after we asked for an extra duvet to actually sleep on as well as the one on top. bathroom was fine with a good shower and very hot water - take care. There are no lifts so be aware that you may well have to climb stairs. In our room we had a kitchen in a cupboard, sink, microwave, fridge and a few plates etc. Very handy if you wanted to use it, especially the fridge. Breakfast is very good and quick service with all the staff being friendly and if you asked for anything it was done then and there. Great position with the Pier across the road or Lord street, literally around the corner. For the price we paid and with a place to park, it was excellent value but with the just OK beds and draughty windows (which they cannot do much about) the hotel was average. We would go back again at the same price.
