The food in the restaurant is extremely good and first class for a golf club more like dining in top notch restaurant but very expensive. Staff very good and pleasant

“Sea view!!”
Reviewed 13 May 2012 via mobile

Where else can you chip and putt for a very reasonable price knowing that the best in the world have followed in your footsteps or vice versa!!! Food is absolutely amongst the top restaurant eateries in the northwest! Could not find any fault with this club other than not being able to use my mobile phone even on silent!!! Exclusive? Yaaaaahh!

“Living on reputation.”
Reviewed 25 April 2012

The biggest thrill of playing Royal Birkdale is knowing that you are walking in the footsteps of golf's giants. Everyone that has been anyone in golf has played there. From Bobby Jones to Tiger Woods and everyone in between. However, for me, not being a lover of links golf, that is where the thrill ends. The course itself is uninspiring, and if the wind is blowing (which it was) the whole experience can be very daunting for an average club golfer. The fairways are very narrow and the rough is more than punitive. And with green fees not too far short of £200 per round, I can get far better golfing value for my money elsewhere. Been there now; got the tee-shirt; won't be coming back!
