“Ideal for golfers on the strip”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 May 2014

The strip of coastal links courses around Southport is one of the finest in the world and attracts visitors from many countries. This new Travelodge is centrally located within easy walking distance of the pubs, bars and restaurants in town and a short taxi/car journey to many of the famous coruses (we played S&A which was excellent). Rooms were purpose built, modern and clean - perfectly functionable - the entance and navigation to reception is interesting up the stairs - keeps you fit!
Breakfast in a box was OK at best
Overall a comfortable and quiet nights rest after a great afternoon's golf and a night on the town

Room Tip: HIgher is better and one side overlooks Morrisons car park

when we arrived there was a queue at reception as the cleaners hadnt turned up and the rooms were not ready. when it was finally my turn i asked for my room with disabled access which i had booked as my wife is in a wheelchair. ON THE FIFTH FLOOR !!!! when i questioned this i was told rather brusqueley "there is a lift ,you dont have to use the stairs." as we were tired and it was bank holiday we went to our room. marked plainly on the lift doors was a sign " IN CASE OF EMERGENCY DO NOT USE " What idiot designed the plans and what clown in the health and safety passed them. the mind boggles.

Room Tip: Go to the Premier Inn.

My only down was no food but lots of cafés in walking distance will be back very soon

Room Tip: We had 111 on first floor no problems, my only concern was the cleaners seemed to work none stop 10...

Stayed with my friends at the Travelodge on Saturday night. On entering the room we realised we didnt have enough towels or mugs ! About an hour later we noticed we had no bedding for the truckle bed so it was off to reception again. Good location and reasonably comfy bed but not great experience

What an awful experience.
This hotel is a complete joke.
Room was poor and the bathroom a disgrace.
This is a new hotel yet it looks like it was never finished.
Don't bother trying to have a shower, the water pressure barely gets you wet.
Think the reception staff only work for a couple of hours a day, there was someone there at check in but never saw them again.
As for the cleaning staff they are rude and ignorant.
Trying to leave the hotel was an obstacle course.
Climbing over hovers and cleaning trolleys is not my idea of fun.
A cleaner just looked at us and never even bothered trying to move anything.
Lots of adverts around the hotel telling you about their wonderful beds that gives you the perfect sleep, problem is they obviously are still waiting for them to be delivered as the floor would have been more comfortable.
The final thing that was unforgivable is the fact they allow dogs in this hotel.
My partner was adamant that she heard dogs barking on the Saturday night within the hotel, this was proved correct when on the Sunday morning I saw a man with two Cocker Spaniels in the hotel.
Feel sorry for the person that gets this room next, not very hygienic and unacceptable.
Do yourself a favour, DON'T stay here.

Room Tip: My advice is choose a room in another hotel. Much safer and easier

Have stayed in many travelodges and like them to be in a central location so can not get better than this one. Arrived Saturday afternoon and queued to check in was given room 301 it's a small double room and right next to the bed part of the wall projects out with sharp edges which my husband cut his nose on when when he turned around and forgot it was there. It also has no view with just 2 skylights.also I have to agree with previous reviews about banging doors. Would stay again but will make sure not to get room 301.

My family and I enjoyed a reasonably good stay at this hotel during Easter 2014. We stayed in a family room for five nights. The hotel has only been open a couple of months, so everything was very smart, spotless, and the room facilities were brand new.

The room was smartly decorated, with a nice en-suite bathroom. Though for the family (1x king size double, 1x single, 1x travel cot) it was a tight squeeze, especially for the five nights we stayed here. The bed was super comfortable, with nice/clean/fresh bed linen. The view from our room looked onto the roof of the Mecca bingo hall which was disappointing. When booking ask for a room on the south side of the main block (great views towards the sea and over the town from the sixth floor), or in the tastefully redecorated front part of the original building (called the Ribble Building).

The only negatives were that our room was not serviced everyday, and the carpets were not vacummed during our stay. Their is no telephone in the room. This makes it difficult when you need to speak to reception as you had to physically walk downstairs (why not install a simple telephone in each room? This would solve the problem) though when you arrived at reception the staff there were not always around to help. Their is no bar/cafe/lounge area, which is disappointing. No atmosphere therefore in the property, however the delights of the town centre and an excellent Wetherspoons pub is located just next door.

All-in-all a great modern hotel, representing excellent value for money for your stay in sunny Southport.

Room Tip: Choose a room on the south side of the main block for a great view across the town and towards the s...
