“Typical Wetherspoons - Good value”
Reviewed 24 March 2014 via mobile

You know what you are going to get. Good value meals and breakfast served from 8 am. Nothing fancy however a breakfast with a drink for less than £5 cannot be bad. Lunchtime I would recommend the steak pudding chips and peas with a gravy that compares with anywhere. This Wetherspoons is at bottom of Lord Street near B& M Bargains with plenty of parking nearby.

“Pitch Black!”
Reviewed 23 February 2014 via mobile

We went on curry night (Thursday) and as we started reading the menu, we realized that we couldn't see it properly because of the lighting. It was so dark we had to move to a different table which was under a light. After that, we ordered our food. 2 people got mix grill, 1 person got tikka massala and the other person got chicken korma, when the food came, the tikka massalla was cold. It wasn't stone cold but it wasn't hot. The other meals were up to standards though. The service was great and the staff were really nice.

“the other 'wethies' is much better!”
Reviewed 21 February 2014

Don't know if we chose the wrong day, but the s h s appears to attract the the rougher element of the town, but enough of the staff! Seriously though, my wife, who has rheumatoid arthritis, was alarmed, upon mounting a step, by the sudden appearance of a tray-carrying member of staff, who, after almost banging into her when not looking where he was going, proceeded to shout 'Oi!' - before continuing on his way to his waiting customer - no apology, but then, he was quite young, and lacking in manners and probably hasn't been trained in customer relations.
After ordering 2 coffees, a member of the bar staff, nodded with his head towards the 12 ft high milk jug, which no amount of leverage on my part could ascertain the whereabouts of the white stuff. Good job my wife didnt try to hold this jug, as it awkward and weighed at least 300 pounds.
We do enjoy our regular visits to s h s' cousin up the road, and I would recommend that as a much happier eating and drinking establishment!
