The hotel was ideally placed for our weekend break as it was only seconds from the main shopping area - Lord St. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was neat, compact and very warm and inviting. The Management were very thoughtful in that each female guest received a teddy bear for Valentine's day - a lovely touch! The breakfast was excellent and plentiful - set you up for the day. We would have no hesitation in recommending the hotel to our friends. Thank you.

It never ceases to amaze me that some people who expect all and more that a 5 star hotel has to offer yet only wish to pay a 3 star tariff .The Dukes Folly is an excellent
small hotel having been carefully decorated throughout .The staff I found very helpful The bedroom was pleasant and warm Breakfast was more than adequate with excellent service all in all a great experience.

Me and my wife stayed at The Dukes Folly for a long weekend and found it to be a pleasant well located hotel. We stayed in one of the themed rooms, which we found rather pleasing and amusing. The owner, John, and his staff we found to be polite and friendly. Although I do not usually have breakfast I enjoyed what was offered at the hotel. In the evening we could relax in their small bar and chat to fellow guests. Although not the best hotel we have stayed in it was definitely value for money.

We called months ahead of time and booked 3 rooms for 9 nights, we were coming to Southport for a golf holiday. When we booked the rooms we were assured that we would be put in two of the 'best' rooms they had.

When we arrived our rooms were not ready, when they were ready and we saw them, we were in for a shock. The rooms we were put in measured 9' wide and 13' long (yes, we measured!). This was to accommodate two people?

The bed was overly soft, the room was in a state of disrepair with peeling wall paper and dirt/hair in the bath tub. We were given two postage stamp sized towels that were paper thin. There was an odd and VERY unpleasant odor in the bathroom which I tracked down to the shower curtain. The shower curtain smelled like a combination of mold and wet, dirty dog.

The heat in our room didn't work (it was finally fixed), the toilet didn't flush (it was NOT fixed), and our friend had NO hot water OR heat in his room, he had to take cold showers two mornings in a row! This was never fixed.

We stayed here based on the reviews here on Tripadvisor. I think we must have been given the worst rooms in this hotel. We were promised to be given 'better' rooms on Monday (we arrived on a Thursday), but we aren't staying long enough to find out what the other rooms are like. We've had enough!

We recently stayed here for the week-end. We all travelled independently from Luton and surrouunding areas to attend a function on saturday afternoon. That fact we were all arriving at different times and early was no problem for the staff. They insured we got into our rooms early enough to change and get to the function. The breakfast was excellent and plenty of it. Location is brilliant close to town centre but far enough away not to be bothered by it. The staff are some of the friendliest I have encountered, and I have travelled alot. I would have no problem recommending this place to anyone it does exactly what it says in the brochure.
