We stayed here for 5 days and as previous reviewers have put it you really only get what you pay for .We were upgraded free of charge and the apartment the apartment was clean with plenty of room but the only problem is if you get noisy people in your block who stay up half the night partying you can hear everythig that is going on.The bar prices are reasonable but the problem is all drinks are served in plastic cups.I cant comment on the entertainment as i didnt see any but if you want a quiet drink there is a nice pub across the road. There is also a bus stop outside the camp if you want to go into Southport.

My daughter and her friend went here for 2 nights for a break. We usually go to Prestatyn but it is shut for 2 weeks so they went here. From the moment she arrived she said everyone was lovely. They were given a new refurbed chalet which was great. The Reception staff were very helpful. My daughter's phone credit went and she wanted to ring me as someone had upset her and she asked at reception if they would ring me and I would ring her straight back and the lady said, No need, use our phone and even offered to let her use her mobile if she needed to which I thought was so kind of her. The Bluecoats were all really friendly. Liam knows her and so made a fuss of her but she said the ones she didn't know were also very friendly. She was disappointed that the swimming pool was shut as she loves to swim but the management had made all the activities free to make up for it, which she was pleased about and made the most of! What great value! She did say there were a lot of dubious people about but they didn't spoil her time there. A big thank you to Mark, Mike, the nice young man who checked them in, the lovely lady at reception, Liam and all the Blues. Full marks for Customer Service!

Just returned from a weekend break. Room basic but clean. Staff very friendly and helpful.kids loved every minute. Excellent value for money. The bunnies were an added bonus. The swimming pool was closed for refurbishment, so all the activates were free. Southport itself is lovely, clean and very friendly. It has a lovely beach. Would highly recommend, for a cheap break with the kids.

I've never been to a Pontins before and I'll never go back. Southport is lovely, nice beach and town. But Pontins is the worst place ever. It's dirty, over crowded, noisy and just horrible. The pool was shut but I don't think I would have gone in anyway because the place was so over crowded. Never again!

Room Tip: Just don't.

Thought id post a review of this place, seen as I've read so many bad reviews, basically you really do get what you pay for!!! There is plenty to do for the kids, seen as the swimming pool was shut this weekend everything was free, inc the go karts, wasn't to bothered that it was shut like, but would of been nice to go for a dip, there was a lot of people there this weekend so was quite busy, parking is quite hard aswell, children's entertainment was really good from what I saw, there's arcades which are good for every1, the ROOMS are again what you pay for, all I could say is they could invest more into the mattresses, as they are rubbish, for a heavier person, you can feel all the springs in your back like, bunk beds for the kids, room were pretty clean, had to keep moving the microwave, as there was no plug socket near where it was, everything else was pretty clean, the electric on the chalet went very fast... Location nearest town is ainsdale, quite a nice little town, southport is about 10mins drive, there's a nice beach about a 1min walk from pontins, but if you really want a nice beach where you can spend the day, get down to Formby Point, there's a nature reserve there with Red squirrels, cost £5.50 to get in, to get to the beach you have to walk up a steep sand dune, buts it's lovely... Overall was alright, again nothing special, you just get what you pay for really. Hope this helps

We stayed at Pontins in Southport for one night out of season this week, while visiting relatives in Southport. Having read the reviews I was worried about the standards of cleanliness, etc. but was pleasantly surprised. The rooms were basic but clean and the appartment had a new floor which could be washed. The beds were basic but also clean, as was the bed linen. Admittedly in the public areas the place looks run down and paint is peeling but for an overnight stay costing £29 for four adults we thought that it was a bargain. Not sure I would want to stay for a holiday, especially with the pool out of action, but we would consider going there overnight again.

Two if my friends an I have recently returned from a 90s weekend and I have to say despite the bad reviews we had an excellent time!
Staff and entertainment were brilliant, the rooms were basic yes but they were clean and everything was functioning!
I couldn't find fault, apart from maybe being a little out of the way but we walked to the village train station which takes about 15/20 mins only up a straight road. We got the train to southport town for £3.20 return which is really good value!
The two party nights were amazing, the bar stuff were quick and efficient despite the crowding of the bar and the drinks prices were also not too bad either.
I would definitely return, we all enjoyed it so much! :)
