Sunday early evening meal. Attractive restaurant ideally located just off Lord St.
Staff were friendly and attentive but mixed experiences with the food. Bread was warm but very chewy. Starter portion sizes while generous were actually overwhelming. The asparagus starter didn't work out at all flavours-wise (this was the weakest dish we had) but the Chorizo salad (warm with apple and feta) was fabulous. Haddock starter was ok. Main courses: chicken was well cooked and seasoned, the potatoes wrapped in bacon didn't add much but the strange pink beetroot sauce was off-putting and ruined this dish. Salmon meal was bland tasting, spinach really was wilted (and in short supply?) ...again not enough attention to flavour. The service however was excellent throughout. Overall this is a good restaurant that could be even better.
