Sunday early evening meal. Attractive restaurant ideally located just off Lord St.
Staff were friendly and attentive but mixed experiences with the food. Bread was warm but very chewy. Starter portion sizes while generous were actually overwhelming. The asparagus starter didn't work out at all flavours-wise (this was the weakest dish we had) but the Chorizo salad (warm with apple and feta) was fabulous. Haddock starter was ok. Main courses: chicken was well cooked and seasoned, the potatoes wrapped in bacon didn't add much but the strange pink beetroot sauce was off-putting and ruined this dish. Salmon meal was bland tasting, spinach really was wilted (and in short supply?) ...again not enough attention to flavour. The service however was excellent throughout. Overall this is a good restaurant that could be even better.

We have been dining at the Auberge since it opened over 20 years ago. It has always been very very good which is why we keep going back . It is our number one choice of restaurant in Southport. We dined there for lunch on Friday. The food was absolutely delicious. It was of a high quality and was presented extremely well. In fact I think the food was better than ever. As always the staff were courteous and very attentive. It offered incredible value for money. If you are in Southport just take a wander down Lord Street until you get to the Bold Hotel and you will find it just across the side road. Pop in and dine - you certainly won't be disappointed . A little gem .

Very surprised to find this as low down the list as the food presented is of a very good and high standard . The menu shows imagination and offers a good selection of fishes all home made and excellent value

Well worth a visit if you like good food over pretentious overpriced dishes that other southport establishments with higher ratings on trip advisor offer

Many times I have been to the auberge, the menu is exciting without being over pretentious, and if you are not a fan of exotic sauces on your meal then the staff seem genuinely happy to ask the chef to leave the food "au natural", a beutifully designed restaurant with character and a lovely selection of wines and food, for me it is a paradise.
