We have just got back from a stay at Plum Tree Cottage, it was a fantastic experience from beginning to end. The owner was an absolute pleasure to deal with and attended to our every need, we where welcomed with wine chocolates and even a treat for our dog.
The cottage itself is truly delightful, decorated to an extremely high standard and the owner has thought of everything you could possibly need to make your stay 5 star. The view from the cottage is stunning, we sat out having dinner over looking the river, then lit the log burner and enjoyed our cheese and wine next to the fire.
I can not express enough how truly fantastic Plum Tree cottage is , we had the best nights sleep in the beautiful king size bed, listening to the river.
We have already told all our friends and family about this hidden gem and we are booking to go back next month.
We where waved off by Beverly which was just the perfect ending to a blissful stay!

A real home from home cottage in it's own private grounds which really does have everything which we needed, including being dog friendly. We were celebrating and had pre-booked Champagne on our arrival and were not disappointed as we were greeted by the friendly owner, everything was perfect, our dog even got treats. The cottage was warm, very comfortable and so cosy. The decor was very relaxing and of a very high professional standard throughout with quality soft furnishings and lighting which gave a very classy, comfortable ambience throughout. We lit the log burner and never looked back it was so cosy. The kitchen area is very well provided for with lot's of worktop space and essentials (huge fridge/freezer) and a dining area which has a wonderful cosy bench seat, which was ideal for reading the Sunday newspapers and for using my laptop. Upstairs the bedroom was so comfortable with ample hanging space in the built-in wardrobe and drawers for everything else. A great ensuite with large shower and a fabulous view looking up river from the sky light opening window. Parking was so easy in the grounds of the cottage. I was so relaxed listening to the river and watching the wildlife which visited it. The location was ideal for us as we visited Hamsterley Forest and Weardale and there are 2 good pubs in the village of Witton Le Wear (5 minutes walk) one pub serves food which we enjoyed. We like to 'get away from it all' when we rent a cottage and this little gem has it all, highly recommended from us. We'll be back soon.
