Low Cornriggs Farm

We stayed in Alice's cottage for one night whilst doing the coast to coast cycle ride in September. It was a great little find. Beautiful setting, clean and cosy cottage and delicious food served at the farmhouse. Just what we needed! Our hosts Harry and Jan were great... We would definitely return especially for the award winning beef pie!

I have stayed at the Farmhouse for B&B and also in the self catering cottages. I can't fault either. Both are run by Jan & Harry alongside their small farm, specialising in Prize-winning Hereford cattle. They should also win no end of prizes for their accommodation. Five star ratings for everything including the home made bread & marmalade at breakfast. And as for their own beef, well the optional evening meals become unmissable.

My Daughter and I stayed in Alice Cottage for four nights and was well pleased when we opened the door to the spotlessly clean and spacious cottage. We weren't greeted by the owners, as they were out when we arrived, but waiting for us were some lovely fruit scones and Harry's homemade rhubarb and ginger preserve, which was delicious. I slept in the double bed, but unfortunately the mattress was very soft to what I'm used to and suffered back ache for the duration, my Daughter slept in the single bed but had no problem. The bedrooms and lounge were nicely furnished and the kitchen had everything you needed for a self catering holiday. The cottage was also well equipped for the disabled, with a walk in shower.

i cannot say how beautiful this place is, and friendly, the owners are very welcoming and friendly, they helped us greatly, we made a booking with them and travelled 400 miles to get there, when we got there we found that for some reason our booking had not been paid for and i had left my wallet at home, the owner said it was nothing to worry about and we could pay when we got home, when we got to our room(room2) it was just what we wanted it was like a home from home and the view from the bedroom window was out of this world, we didn't stay for breakfast as we had to leave early in the morning, i would definitley stay there again and anyone looking to stay in the penines this is your ideal location, happy staying and thank you to Harry & Jane Elliott the owners for their help.

Room Tip: we stayed in room 2 it has a double and single bed in it.

Lovely location, fabulous welcome and more than we could have asked for in terms of food and rest. Walked for two whole days from farm house with plenty of interest. Nearby walks in Allendale ended at lovely cafes. Unspoilt and quite, a really good change from the lake district. We will be back

A family trip from London while we were on the Sea to Sea cycle route across the Pennines, we stayed for two nights. It is such a comfortable house to stay in, wonderful location with great views, and very quiet. The beds, bathrooms and meals were all first rate. The rooms are very welcoming and well furnished. We ate in both evenings and were served generous helpings of really excellent home cooked food. After very strenuous days in the saddle it was a joy (and relief) to come back here, have hot baths, dry out and relax. But what really makes it is the hospitality and kindness of Jan and Harry, the owners. Thank you - we hope to be back!

After a tough day cycling from Penrith to arrive and be greeted so well was very welcome. The rooms were very comfortable, and the facilities very clean - which after a night in a 'lodge for travellers' the previous night was fantastic. We had the evening meal, in a private dining room for the 8 of us, and it was excellent - everyone finished everything. The meal was prepared by Janet and served in the main by Harry, a very amiable host - I would not repeat to Janet some of the stories he told us..... The breakfast was stunning, with various fruits prepared, yoghurt, cereals, etc, followed by a quality fry up and tea and coffee but strangely it was the toast that struck me most - the quality of the bread was fantastic. I would definitely return.
