Booked a table for 7 when we arrived we were told they were expecting 6 but would accommadate us so we had an extra setting added at the end of the table. Drinks at the bar were served by pleasant staff but the room was cold the fire was not lit. When we moved into the empty restaurant it was even colder. We had to ask the waitress to put the heating on. We ate our meal with our coats on. The menu stated that the fishcakes and lasagne were homemade. One of our party has been in the catering trade for over 20 years and they state these are mass produced items and definitly NOT HOMEMADE!! This was obvious from the apperance and lack of flavour. Three of the party ordered serloin steak, all rare, two came well done and were sent back, the replacements came back blue and were eaten. The hunters chicken ordered by one of the party was a rather small portion that was mediocre. The pesto chicken was over cooked and under seasoned. The lasagne was served with chips and garlic bread (no salad) and had the appearance and taste of a supermarket ready meal with a chunk of extra cheese melted on the top. When we ordered our meals we were never asked what potato or vegetable accompaniments we wanted and just got what was served on the plate. The puddings were average and also mass produced and not homemade as stated on the menu. We were not the only unhappy diners as one couple were told there was no red wine and one lady sent her steak back twice and ended up having toast!! When we came to pay we were told they only take cash as they didnt think the card machine worked, it did luckily for who?
