I am a courier for a Manchester Based Coach firm, and visit this hotel three times a year.
Our previous visit in February was horrendous, with no heating, skeleton staff and no night porter, so it was with great intrepidation that we arrived again in April 2008.
But thankfully we were happily suprised.
New management had taken over the hotel and have been hard at work for the last six weeks renovating and upgrading the hotel.
The shabby old carpets have been replaced with good qaulity new ones, the beds and furniture, Tvs and Kettles etc have also been replaced, some rooms having been completed, others still being done, the central heating has been overhauled and a new boiler and radiators fitted. The buildings both inside and out have been painted and decorated. New security cameras have been fitted outside, both on the courtyard and the car park, which previuosly there were none, Fire hydrants have been fitted on out buildings, which were not there before.
The Courtyard has been given a much needed facelift and the Gardens are being brought back to life.
The new management are friendly and approchable, and attend to any complaint quickly and efficiently. They are more often than not, on site, to attend to any discontent that customers may have.
Staff are friendly and helpful.
I must congratulate the new Management on their turning a drab run down hotel, into a bright cheery and comfortable place to spend a holiday, and wish them luck with the rest of their plans for the place, which include a Beer Garden, a comfortable seating area outdoors for smokers and a childrens play area.
I look forward to our return trip in October.
