“Convenient but poor”
Reviewed 14 April 2014 via mobile

We stayed the night before flying rather than brave the M25 in rush hour. Right decision but wrong hotel.
We have stayed in Ibis hotels in France and we have always found them good value and whilst basic offered good value for money. Sadly I could not recommend the Ibis at Heathrow. I will split the review into two parts in relation to the room and the restaurant.
As far as the room was concerned it was typical Ibis. Except for the large number of cobwebs behind the pelmet and curtains, the mould on the silicon round the bath and the toilet flush that was loose and nearly broken. Details but not what I would expect. However the bed was comfortable and the room quiet.
The restaurant was however very poor. The food was ok but my wife found a piece of plastic in her fish pie. When we raised this with the waitress she picked in ip sniffed at it and told us it was a piece of fish. She said she would speak to the chef but if she did she never got back to us.
The restaurant was not busy and so there was probably 1 waitress for 2 tables. However getting anyone to serve was almost impossible. I wanted a pudding but gave up as know one was interested in helping us. So we asked for the bill but even had to wait for that and in the end had to go to the desk to pay.
Foolishly we decided we would have a coffee at the bar. However if the restaurant was over staffed the bar was under, just one person serving so the wait was just ridiculous.
Breakfast was good but overall not a happy experience.

I generally try and avoid Ibis Hotels for no other reason than they are low budget and often look a bit tatty. They also add car park charges and breakfast costs so sometimes it is cheaper to shop around and get a better all inclusive deal with a better hotel for the same money.

However. The Ibis Hotel at Heathrow is actually one of the better hotels in their group. I was quite surprised at the efforts they have gone to in making it modern and attractive. They had gone for an interesting industrial look around the lift doors and the reception desk had some funky background lighting which put messages on the wall behind the main desk. The restaurant and bar area was pretty well laid out and a refreshing change for an Ibis Hotel.

Check in was pretty straight forward. The room was spacious and well laid out with coffee making facilities and all the usual creature comforts. Everything worked including the Wi-Fi which although a little slow it was adequate. There is ample parking at this hotel even if they do charge you £12 a night for the privilege of staying at their own hotel.

The staff were friendly and helpful and breakfast ( additional charge ) was more than adequate with a good selection of cooked and continental. Despite being so close to Heathrow Airport the rooms and the communal areas are very quiet. It is only when you open a window in your room that you can hear any aircraft.

All in all this was a pleasant stay. It was good value for money and it more than served a purpose. I would have no hesitation in recommending it.

+ Not much sound from the nearby airport (as long as the windows are closed)
+ Quick and efficient check-in and out, with helpful staff
+ Stylish lobby
+ Really easy transport from Heathrow (atleast T3). We took the free bus. It stops 2 minutes from the hotel, and when there is little traffic it takes you just 10 minutes to get to the terminal!

+/- Decent bed, but I have slept in better ones

- Not the newest interior/decor, but it is standard Ibis, so at least you know what you get!

Stayed here for six nights.
Food is expensive from restaurant/Bar about $10for a sandwich with ham and cheese. $20Aus for a fish and chip meal. Nothing special about it either. Staff at bar are very inexperienced and all having English as a second language creates difficulties with orders. They also fail to mention on website, parking is 12GBP a day for your stay. Rooms are ok and cleaning service is second to none. Not sure if I would stay here again without researching areas closer to London, it takes over an hour to get there on train/bus.

Thank you for reviewing the hotel. I am sorry if our Food & Beverage and Car Park charges were higher than expected, however we regularly benchmark our prices against similar hotels in the area and I can assure you that we are priced competitively in the local market. I am glad that the rest of your stay was more satisfactory, and I hope that you will visit us again if you choose to stay in the Heathrow area.
