“Good location, comfort and service”
Reviewed 4 December 2011

One of three HI properties in the immediate vicinity of Heathrow and probably the cheapest one.Easily reached within 15 minutes from the Heathrow Central bus station, just catch a 105 or 111 bus and get off at Harlington Corner. You'll be on the correct side of the main Bath Road and right outside the hotel. Another bonus is that this bus stop is just inside the free Heathrow travel zone so the bus won't cost you anything. Hotel Hoppa buses are also available for around £4 - £5 each way. Plenty of bus routes pass nearby if you want to go exploring and there are some good pubs and restaurants around.

The building is circular with rooms having either an interior or exterior view, the latter of course being preferable. I found the room to be smaller than other HI properties I've been in but it was comfortable and had all the amenities required. The bathroom was also on the small side but was fine with a good powerful shower, plenty of towels and toiletries. Service was very good, both at reception and in the restaurant. Good breakfast with an extensive selection, both hot and cold.

You can find some very good rates here but do be aware that you'll pay for extras. Internet access was £25 for two days, movies were around £10 each, the 'discounted' breakfast was £11 and parking is £24 a night. But if you are just looking for a cheap layover I'd say it's a good option.

Room Tip: Ask for an exterior room.

I chose this hotel when I decided to stay 2 extra nights in London. The Advanced Purchase price was very reasonable (even when you added the VAT). The Hoppa bus to and from Heathrow is available when I had to move luggage, but the fact that the city bus is free to the Hatton Cross underground and from Heathrow are a real delight.

Even though I had a room on the airport side of the building, there was no airport noise. On the other hand, noise from the hallway was surprisingly loud.

The room was large, by London standards. Reception area was bright and cheery. I didn't eat here, so I can't comment on the food or prices. My room was a VERY good value. My only concern was that the bath caulking should be redone.

Stay here quite often as its the cheapest holiday inn at Heathrow. Food is expensive and not too good, usually over cooked. Shows why its the cheapest BUT beware of the hidden extras ie they add 10% to your food bill, charge heavily for parking, and the priority club show the price WITHOUT VAT. Be warned.

I sayed for one night when I had an early flight from Heathrow. The hotel itself is OK, the reception and dining/bar area are bright and cheery, but the wood panneling in the hallway to the rooms made it look dated and tired. The room itself was a typical English room - very small compared to an American hotel room, and the twin room had single beds in it.

I paid for breakfast in my room rate and was impressed by the offerings of food. Everything from hot and cold to cheeses etc. The room service menu was extensive, but seemed over priced so I didn't end up ordering anything.

What really surprised me was that there was no free wifi, and the cost to access the hotels computers was really high so I was unable to do an online check in.

With the amount of hotels in and around Heathrow, this hotel would only rate as average. I'm sure there are better, just as cheap choices around.

I have stayed here twice recently on business and the hotel is near the airport with a good bus service from the terminals to the front door of the hotel. Staff are friendly and the place has a good atmosphere. The rooms on the inner circle are very small whereas the ones on the outer circle are spacious. Breakfast is adequate with a decent choice and good service. The food in the bar/restuarant seems a bit expensive although I did not try it. There is not much around the hotel although there is a very good inn about 15 mins walk away which serves very good food at good prices. There is also a bus service to Hatton Cross underground where you can get to the city centre in 45 mins.

This hotel is near from Heatrow this is one of the best point. You can go FREE from Heatrow central bus station to the hotel. You can take 105 and 111 and they will take you straight in front of the hotel. At night from central london you can take the N9 and you will get back from downtown to the hotel. The rooms are VERY small. the bed was not really confortable , there is a plastic cover on the matress which makes it unconfortable. The hotel is clearly outdated. I stayed 1 day only for a transfer and when I came back for my other transfer I choose another hotel .. I will not come back to this Ariel as there are so many better choices.

We stayed for one night before flying from Heathrow the next morning they also kept our car for the week we were away. The cost was less than the cost of an airport car park for the week so it was very good value. The room was adequate for the purpose with a comfortable bed and a good clean bathroom. The heating was efficient and unobtrusive and the room was well insulated against the noise of the road outside and the nearby runway. I would not want to spend a week there but I would not want to spend a week anywhere in London having grown up there.
