Langshott Manor is a beautiful hotel and venue set in immaculate grounds, making it feel a million miles from Gatwick airport. We enjoyed the modern décor and spacious accommodation of the Wisley suite for two nights, which is situated in one of the outbuildings. In contrast, the rooms and suites in the main building boast traditional décor. All rooms are unique, which adds to the appeal and makes it difficult to choose between them.

The staff - for the most part - were friendly, professional and attentive. It is clear that good service is taken seriously, although we did experience some delays in the Mulberry Restaurant and an invoice mix-up upon check-out (which, I should add, was quickly resolved). The food was excellent, as was the general cleanliness and atmosphere.

The main factor preventing an 'excellent' scoring for me was the poor sound-proofing in our suite. We could clearly hear snoring and talking from the neighbouring room, which - accompanied by a very firm mattress - made for an uncomfortable night's sleep. It's worth mentioning that the sound-proofing and mattresses were of a better quality in the main building.

Langshott Manor, as well as being a peaceful alternative to the typical airport-accessible hotel, is ideal as an intimate wedding venue. We were privileged to enjoy a family wedding during our stay and would not hesitate to recommend to couples seeking a smaller venue for their big day.

5star food & wine & lovely dining room & surroundings. Very disappointed at mix up as to whether we could have tasting menu with wine flights, particularly as this had been booked in advance & also let down that nothing special(not so much as a single candle) was done to indicate that this was celebration dinner for our grand-daughter's 21st. Management need to address this breakdown in communication as otherwise a fine meal & service

Stayed there last night.(19 th April 2014)
The atmosphere was just wonderful as were the staff and the restaurant.
Quite simply perfect.
It was a real tonic to have such knowledgeable and attentive staff on hand who all supplied seamless perfect service.
I would definitely recommend the hotel to anyone and look forward to visiting in the near future.

Stayed just the one night on an excellent value Secret escapes deal. The hotel didn't have our booking in the system when we arrived but luckily they had room, and as an apology, we were upgraded to a grand suite. So no probs with the room (and the bed was soooo comfy!). Also, I must mention that the gardens are charming. We had a drink before dinner - realise it's a listed building, etc, but the public sitting rooms could really do with an update - absolutely no atmosphere, a bit chilly, huge fireplace but with only a teeny wisp of a fire in them, no quiet background music, and it took ages to be served our drinks. Dinner was nice but not amazing. Then we were told we would be served our coffee and truffles in one of the lounges..we were still sitting there 20 minutes later, no coffee nor truffles! The waiter eventually remember and apologised. The next morning, a fire alarm went off early in the morning. Some glitch in the system and our alarm was affected, had to call reception, rush outside, etc. These are little things that don't really matter, but to me, what makes a successful mini break is warmth, hospitality, charm, luxury, etc, and sadly, this place didn't deliver.

We spent the first night of our married life at Langshott over 25 years ago & it has changed a bit since then!! We upgraded to a Junior suite (Sissinghurst) which was a beautiful room in separate 'mews' with small garden. My husband particularly appreciated the power shower! Our package included 5 course tasting menu, which was some of the best food we had eaten in a long time (the choc & caramel pudding was to die for!!) True the room was quite hot, as per another comment, but weather had been frosty, so difficult to fault that. Breakfast was not as stunning as the dinner, both our eggs were overcooked, but otherwise good full english! Yes, the housing around has spoilt the setting somewhat, but you are so convenient to Gatwick & I would guess the Elizabethans who built the house didn't envisage a major airport/town on their doorstep!

Room Tip: Sissinghurst Suite is fab with small garden, but you do have to go outside to main house. Rooms in...

This is a small luxury hotel near Gatwick (about five miles or so). It housed in a beautifully restored Elizabethan manor house, which is really quite charming. It has lots of small rooms and winding staircases. Our bedroom, which was of a reasonable size, was up one flight of stairs, and had a bathroom up another small flight inside the room. The look is very oak beams, dark wood panelling, and lattice windows. The bed was very comfortable, and there were tea-making facilitiies but no mini-bar. We had an average martini before dinner, even though there isn't a bar as such: the drink was brought to us in a,lounge in front of an open fire (it was cold that evening). The dining room is in a new extension done in a vaguely sympathetic manner. Dinner was ambitious and a bid fiddly, though actually the cooking was careful and precise, with well balanced flavours. Breakfast was unusually delicious (I had smoked haddock and poached eggs). Given the comments elsewhere about this hotel, I thought the restaurant was fairly good, especially for this area, and quite reasonable. This hotel would make a great place to stay before flying out of Gatwick, or as a first night in Olde Englande — especially if you arrived by night and couldn't see much of the surroundings, which are rather suburban. Overall, I though this place carried it off.

We visited Langshott Manor for an overnight stay celebrating my partner's birthday.

Langshott Manor is located at the far end of a road named Langshott, and there is a new housing complex built nearby, from the grounds you can't see it very well and didn't find it to be a problem.

The grounds are small but stunning. Plenty of space to enjoy a glass of wine or afternoon tea by the duck pond or in the Mulberry Restaurant. On arrival we were cheerfully greeted and taken to our room which was in the new block by a member of staff - a nice touch.

We stayed in the Savill room on the top floor, which is a premium room. The room is of good size and features a large bed, sofa/seating area, a cove with a desk, and a separate bathroom with shower. The shower is set in the ceiling above the bath which is lower than the rest of the room, for me being 6'1" tall this made showering irksome and difficult as my head was touching the shower head.

The room itself was far too hot and I phoned reception twice to get this sorted. The first time I was told to look in the bathroom for the thermostat, and that the gentleman would phone back if he found out it was somewhere else. It wasn't in the bathroom, and I have no idea where he went to get an answer because nobody picked up the phone on reception when I called back. I never found out where the thermostat was and we had a very bad night's sleep because of the heat.

The bed in the Savill room is under the window, and that led to the second major problem. We found our sleep punctuated by cars driving past and every Tom, Dick and Harry having loud conversations on their way to their rooms at all hours. The windows are pretty much useless at cutting noise out in that sense, for a new block of rooms this isn't very good.

We had afternoon tea in the Mulberry restaurant while we were here, the portions were on the large size but at £22 for 4 scones and a pot of tea each I didn't expect any less.

In conclusion, the hotel grounds are lovely, but everything else is lacking. Not good enough to pay these rates and be expected to stay in an overheated room with no soundproofing, and no help from reception.
