“Start to finish - smooth, efficient and friendly.”
Reviewed 3 January 2013

From the moment we first contacted the Belmont for an overnight stop between flights, we felt confident that the collection from Gatwick airport and the drop off back to Gatwick would be trouble free. And so it proved. We phoned the number they gave us at Gatwick and within 15 minutes their own courtesy bus collected us. The driver, like all the staff, was friendly and knowledgeable.

We asked Reception if there was a local eatery and they pointed us in the general direction of several, or if we wanted to eat there they had a reasonable selection and a bar. So, we plumped for this option and were not disappointed. We both decided on a chicken Madras curry which was delicious, hot and fulfilling.

Our only negative in an otherwise perfect stay was the bed (room 4) which was a tad on the hard side.

They offered us an early wake up call but we cancelled that because we were already awake. Breakfast (at 5.30 a.m.) was continental and enough to get us on our way. The courtesy bus took us back to the airport on time.

Would we stay here again - definitely and in fact we have already booked in for an overnight stay in April.

Thank you Belmont for taking a little bit of the stress out of travelling.

I realise this review is negative and differs fundamentally (but not entirely) from the majority opinion, but we can only speak as we find. I should also add that we paid to stay at this hotel by using our accumulated "Avios" points, formerly known as "Airmiles", so no money changed hands. This place was the WORST B and B in which we have had the misfortune to stay. I find it hard to believe the positive comments by other reviewers. We were in room 7, out of the hotel turn left, and in the door on the side. An all-pervading smell of (?)disinfectant greeted us on entering the room, which did not dissipate despite toilet flushing. The whole room looked "tired", and drab, and both room and ensuite needed a redecoratIon and upgrade to bring it up to 21st century standards. Worst of all was the bed. The mattress was so worn that the lightest of hand pressure could detect the circles of the springs lurking beneath, which threatened to burst through the fabric. The room was warm, and the TV and kettle both worked as required, but the overall, the whole experience was deeply unpleasant and we left without having breakfast there. BEST AVOIDED, in our opinion

A cosy little hotel with everything you would expect. The bathroom had been newly refurbished and the shower was lovely, the bed was comfy, (if a little squeaky!)and the staff were friendly. One thing I would defiantly recommend is the food. It was the best food I have had in a hotel before and it was reasonably priced. If you are flying from Gatwick early and you need to stay over night, then this is the place. A wake up call and a cheap and quick transfer to the airport.

This is our second stay at the Belmont. We have been assured of a stress-free start to our holiday each time and always recieve a warm welcome (especially if Rosa is on the desk :0) ). The rooms are clean and plenty hot water for the shower in the morning. We have yet to sample the cooked breakfast on offer, as our flights are always early. But the choice for the continental breakfast is excellent. The parking is an added bonus as is the transport to and from the airport, nothing is too much trouble. We will continue to be regular customers and have already booked ourroom for March 2013.

Room Tip: 3 for a double and single, or 4 for a double, both very quiet.

We stayed here the night before travelling to Cuba for 2 weeks. Easy to find. On arrival we received a very warm welcome at reception. We were given Room 13 outside, motel type room , very clean, more than adequate for the stopover, very quiet, hot shower. We could have eaten in the bar/restaurant but the only reason we didn't was that it was too warm! The next morning we got the hotel shuttle to the South Terminal, no hassle at all and arrived in less than 10 mins. On our return we had been held up for over 8hrs, I rang the Belmonte as advised and was greeted warmly and reassured there was no problem as they had followed our flight and knew we would be delayed, we were collected in a very short time and transferred back to the hotel to collect our car. I can make no comment on breakfast as we left fairly early. I will definitely use the Belmonte next year and recommend them to family friends. Thank you

Room Tip: Book direct with the hotel for better rate, we booked through a web comparison site and could have g...

I stayed here for one night and was greeted by a friendly lady on reception who told me everything I needed to know. I went to my room and the bed was extremely comfortable. However the laminate flooring, combined with cracked windows which wouldn't close properly, led to a very cold room. The clock radio which was constantly on (and therefore had to be unplugged to stop it!) was an annoyance too.

The bar was quaint and comfortable, but the internet access wasn't available due to a 'fault'. The receptionist/barman was quite rude and seemed uninterested in guests.

Breakfast however was really great. Piping hot food, well prepared and cheap too.

Despite the comfy bed and nice breakfast, I would recommend staying somewhere else given the chance.

Stayed here for just one night after landing very late at Gatwick airport. Clean, comfortable bedroom with good shower room and excellent breakfast.
Speedy return to the airport next morning for a small fee. Altogether it suited my purpose and I shall be returning later in the year.
