I found this B&B on the internet by chance and am very glad we did. I agree with all that has gone before in the reviews. Clive and Carmel really have their service off to a fine art. Without doubt I would stay again before or after an LGW flight. Some of the publics areas are a little shabby in decoration, but it looks like renovation and decoration is being done gradually & has been done in the breakfast room. Our room was freshly decorated and very comfortable. Many thanks for a stress-free start and end to our holiday. See you again.

Room Tip: Ask for a reburbished room (not sure if they have all been done yet)

Dear jaclh, Many thanks for your feedback on Tripadvisor.com We are also very glad you found Cumberland House Gatwick and that you were happy with the services we offer. I agree with you jaclh that some of our public areas are a little shabby in decoration. Since arriving at Cumberland House in 2005 Clive and I have had an on-going refurbishment programme set at different stages. We are very proud of the results this far and our final phase of the remaining en-suite bedrooms, hall stairs and landing will be complete before the end of 2013. Our Luxury En-Suite Bedrooms are proving very popular indeed. We look forward to welcoming you back next time you are travelling through Gatwick. Warm Regards Carmel.

best double act in Horley - we added this stay as part of our main holiday before and after - great hosts - wonderful breakfast - served with a smile and a few jokes - the rooms are fantastic better than most 4* plus Hotels - we travelled by coach from S. Wales and were picked up by mine host Clive on time and he loaded the heavy suitcases in and out of their transport - We highly recommend as we would not stay anywhere else - Carmel even booked our table at the Inn a short walking distance just down the lane - hope to see you both soon Love Mari and Keith - South Wales

Room Tip: There are stairs to most rooms so if unable to access- please inform Carmel/Clive on booking and they will make sure that you have a room downstairs

Dear Keith W, It was lovely to see you both again and to hear all about your grandson. We do aim to please and we are delighted to know you appreciate our services. Clive jumps to attention when the telephone rings for an airport transfer to ensure that our guests would never be waiting long. It is very important to have your dinner table pre-booked at The Six Bells as it has become so popular…dinner at the pub has become a tradition for many our guests before their holiday. It is true what you say that we have 2 downstairs rooms and if we know in advance we can allocate these rooms to our guests who find stairs difficult. We look forward to seeing you both soon. Warm Regards Carmel.

Hi,

We stayed here prior to flying out from Gatwick in early June. Clive collected us from the airport and delivered us there the following day in plenty of time for our flight.. Our room was very clean and we slept well. We both had a full English breakfast and our hosts were perfect. All for £66. It's difficult to find fault for that money nor would we try. We were treated like old frineds by both Carmel and Clive and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

Thank you Clive and Carmel for our welcome stay at your b&b,we had an early departure to LGW 7-15am and carmel still managed to squeeze in a full English breakfast before we left hastily with clive who made sure we got to the airport on time.As a last minute thought I asked carmel if she could find us a room on our return this she did. After waiting only a few minutes clive picked us up from the airport to return to Cumberland house where once again carmel cooked us another welcome full English breakfast, she also made sure our room was made up quickly so we could get some sleep after our 10 hour flight and before our long drive home.
Thank You Clive and Carmel for our welcome and your hospitality and Clives sense of humour we will definately see you again.

Room Tip: all rooms are great
