we always stay overnight when we come back off holiday in and around the airport area and this is the worse one we have stayed in, the room was shabby and dated with stained carpets and the bath itself looked was worn and dirty looking ok we only stayed for 1 night but we could have stayed at much better places for the money i paid if you do stay and there are 4 of you get a cab from the airport it is cheaper than the hotels shuttle service

We stayed at the end of May, our hotel room was just fine, and certainly did not smell. We had a fairly pricey drink in the bar next to the restaurant on the ground floor, but the best part for me was the delicious meal we had in the restaurant which set the tone for the rest of our holiday, and could not be faulted by either of us, including the service. We needed the 4.30 am transfer bus which was fairly packed by the time it reached Mecure, the next hotel and then the driver crammed us all in. Luckily our flight was departing from Gatwick North and the hotel shuttle stopped at Gatwick South first as we would have needed a can opener to get us out. It took about half an hour in total and the transfer tickets are £3.00 each one way, so next time we will take a taxi as it will be quicker and more comfortable.

This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel but it is definately THE LAST.

The parking package is a good deal but the room was horrible and depressing - not the ideal way to start your holiday.

The room was smelly, small and delapidated. NEVER AGAIN. Trravel inns are superior to this by miles!

The only good point was the breakfast - pricey but very nice.

We stayed here for one night before catching a very early morning flight. The overnight stay and 8 days parking worked out cheaper than staying in a budget hotel and buying parking separately. Our room was very modern and spacious, pretty much the same as any other Holiday Inn really. Usual facilities in the room - hairdryer, coffee making facilities etc...The hotel is far enough from the airport itself that we couldn't hear any aircraft at all although we were on the far side of the building. The hotel has a bar and restaurant as well. We hadn't planned to eat there and when I saw the prices, I was glad - really expensive but as expected for an airport hotel I guess! We didn't take breakfast either as we were leaving at 4am so can't comment on that. There is a Tesco Extra within a 5 minute walk of the hotel which was pretty handy. The parking system was very straightforward, just a form to fill in at check in and upon our return the car was waiting by the exit for us - the whole process was very quick and easy. Staff were very helpful and friendly - we asked for more coffee for our room and someone was sent up to deliver it to the room within a couple of minutes. The only gripe I have with Gatwick hotels generally is the cost of the shuttle bus to and from the airport - £3 per person each way for a couple of minutes in the bus - really irritating and yet impossible to walk from most hotels due to the lack of pavements! Overall though a good package and definitely worth comparing the price of the park and fly deal compared to buying separately.

We got a room for $39 through Hotwire so we would be on time for our morning flight back to the U.S. There was a free shuttle, but 3 pounds each to travel back to the airport.
We expect amenities at airport hotels
Our double? room had a tiny bed with thin mattress. The headboard fell off in the middle of the night. At least it was quiet.
The room was worth no more than what we paid, but we still felt overcharged.
On the plus side, the restaurant served a good, reasonably priced dinner.
Not so the "Express Breakfast" - 5.50 pounds for a plastic wrapped muffin and paper cup of wretched coffee.
Liked location; disliked breakfast.

Having attended the hotel for my children to take part in a martial arts competition over the weekend, I would like to point out a few things prior to you selecting the hotel:

The hotel was clean and the staff were attentive.

The bar and restaurant areas were well laid out and stylish. Unfortunately the children were unable to sit in the bar area so they found it a little boring as they were unable to watch sky tv!!

The menu for the restaurant was varied but expensive.

Please take the time to look up the Olde Six Bells that was only a 5-10 minute walk away. The staff and the food at the pub were very good. At £2-80 a pint for cask ales, it should be to be to the liking of all the men. If you go out the front entrance, cross over the road immediately in front of the hotel, walk along the road (be careful with young children as the roads were very busy), you will see a church steeple to your left, follow the graveyard and then cut through the church and you will then see the pub.

Olde Six Bells was a credit to the area and well worth a visit. If my directions have lost you then view the are on google earth and you will be able to find it easilt enough.

There is secure parking to the rear of the hotel that costs £10 per 24 hours.

Checking out was quick and easy as one would expect from the Holiday Inn chain.

ideal location, easily found on "sat nav", tesco 24hrs next door for any last minute items you mights have forgotten. shuttle service every 15 mins. to terminal 1 & 2. clean rooms ( though rather warm !) they are currently in the process of re carpetting all the halls,
bar typical - drinks over priced, but you are going on holiday , so why worry. loads fo staff available. did not eat here, but food on next table looked good but £12 av for a burger. key handover for car smooth and easy.
