Best Western Gatwick Skylane Hotel

We have used this hotel twice for overnight stay plus two weeks parking for gatwick.
Both times the service has been very good.
The car is parked onsite (not like some of the others) and a shuttle service is provided to and from the airport.
We cannot fault the overall package for a very reasonable cost and will not hesitate to use this hotel again.
As a bonus there is a very good indian restaurant in the hotel!

Booked this hotel fo January 31st as we couldn't get into Menzies Chequers Hotel. The Receptionist (don't know if she was new, but wasn't sure which floor our room was on!. Requested an early call for 6.00 am as we were flying next morning, and was told yes ok we will call you personally. Went to our room, it was freezing, put air con/heating on and it took ages to warm up, bathroom was like a fridge, radiator didn't seem to be working so asked at reception and they said "No it's not working, leave the door to bathroom open and it will heat up!!!!!" Didn't eat in hotel as seemed to be expensive.I woke up the next morning at 6.45 - no call at 6.00!!! Found out the night receptionist was asleep!!! We left our car at Air Parks, fortunately we had parked there before, as there was no map or help if you didn't know where it was, the receptionist kept asking if we wanted a taxi to the car park, when we asked which car park they were using?????? Got to airport and realized I had left a new scarf in our room, so rang the hotel and asked if my scarf had been found, we had only left there about an hour, and was cut off, rang again and was asked to ring tomorrow, I said I am not in the country tomorrow, could you possibly get someone to look now and if the scarf is there please send it to my home, you have our address, needless to say - no scarf was sent. Just don't bother with this hotel complete waste of time.

Room Tip: Don't bother

Booked the hotel on line for a night stay plus car parking for 1 week before a week away with early flight, paid just under £60, also booked night of return as late return flight, paid around £44.Booking in was efficient and quick, rooms are similar to that of Travel lodge or Premier Inn and clean and tidy. Would recommend and will use again. As hotel bus was fully booked they ordered a taxi for us and it was £6 as per what they state. Read some reviews and think they are unfounded but if you want 5* go and stay at the Sofatel @ £150>200 for the same deal. Suggest if you are worried about damage to car take photos with IPhone or android prior to handing it over so there is proof of any damage done whilst on site, I do this no matter where I stay or leave my car parked long term whilst travelling.

Stayed here before our flight to Florida. Nice room with ensuite. Bed was a double which was comfortable but a little small when your used to a kingsize.

Overall excellent stay which saved a 4 hour drive leaving at stupid o'clock

we booked a last minute deal to mexico, and booked the days hotel, for our night before.

It was fine, clean room, clean bathroom, wi-fi expensive, indian resturant, and english food fine.

cant really fault it for the price, inexpensive, and absolutely usable for one night. parking for 2 weeks fine!!

dont knock it, it is what it is!!!! been to much more expensive places around gatwick that were not as clean.

We booked a night at this hotel with the idea that we would be well rested for our transatlantic flight the following morning. We also booked 2 weeks parking.

First impressions were not good.

The car park was rammed to the brim, with cars tightly double and triple parked, and consisted of a combination of tarmac, gravel, mud and water. Cars were parked so close that it was clear that doors must bash into other cars when people are getting in.

The room itself was ok... except for being woken up continuously by people slamming doors and talking loudly in the corridors throughout the night. This resulted in us being exhausted the next day, thereby defeating the whole point of staying in a nearby hotel.

When it then came to showering in the morning, the shower took over 10 minutes (no exaggeration) of continuous running to get anything past freezing.

The shuttle service was good, except that it was advertised as running every half hour, when in fact it only runs every hour. While this wasn't a massive deal, it did mean we had to get up half an hour earlier than we otherwise would have needed to, also defeating the point of staying nearby to be well rested and not have to get up too early.

On our return to the terminal after the return flight, the shuttle was prompt at collecting us. However, when I got to see my car it was literally covered in mud splatters like it had been offroad racing. Furthermore, and much more worryingly, there was a definite mark of another car door that had been slammed into my passenger door.

I would highly recommend that if you are considering parking at this hotel that you think again, and maybe consider using airparks which far superior. The only reason I have given this hotel 2 stars and not 1, is that the room itself was clean and ok.

Room Tip: Do no allow them to put you in the rooms by reception, you won't get any sleep.

Three words to start...."Don't go there". My friend and I made our booking in good faith through an online company for a nights stays and a weeks patking.. Arrived at the hotel to be told less than sympathetically that we had booked a night in the hotel only and no parking for the week. It is only recently rhat I have founf the written confirmation of this. We were hungry and tired and had little energy to argue the toss. We ended up paying an extra £40.00 to park for the week ( a total of £100.00) in total. The Manager was unprofessional and arrogant - no compassion whatsoever.....we were so disappointed. The room was just ok and I came downstairs to reception to ask for a fresh glass of tap water. The night porter was really rude and unhelpful. He said the water in the room was just as good. I was shocked, even horrified at the way we were treated. I wasn't expecting the earth from a budget one night stay, but basic human kindness and professionalism costs nothing. Never never again. The only thing on the minds of the staff was taking our money! I make no apologies for this review.

Room Tip: One tip.....book somewhere else where the staff treat you with kindness and respect.
