“Convenient for Gatwick Airport”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 April 2014

This hotel is ok for an overnight stay to catch your early flights from Gatwick but I would not wish to stay there for more than one night. Parking although cheap is very difficult during the peak season due to lack of space around the hotel. You are requested to sign a disclaimer exempting the hotel from any responsibility for damage to your car whilst it is in their care. I would not like to leave a new car there as on the two occasions I have stayed there, I have collected my car with damage on it that was not there when I left it.
You should look upon this hotel as somewhere to sleep before a flight that is handy for the airport and where you can leave your car for a very reasonable cost. The rooms were very basic but clean and tidy the beds were poorly sprung which with the accompanying traffic noise and the noise of arriving guests throughout the night made our sleep very difficult.
We had dinner in the restaurant and breakfast in the morning, both were edible but expensive for what was on offer, staffing was very poor with long waits in the evening and morning, the barman also covered the table service and possibly also the cooking? The Dining Area, Reception Area and the rooms where we stayed required urgent refurbishing.
Transfers to the airport are not included in the initial charge, an additional charge per person being made for this service, which again is of a poor standard, on two occasions in spite of having provided the hotel with our arrival times at Gatwick, we have both times had to phone the hotel on arrival and wait in the cold and rain at the Gatwick bus stop for 30 minutes plus for the transit bus to arrive.
To summarise, this hotel is very reasonable in its charges for accommodation and parking, but if you want a hotel with more comfort and better service and food I would recommend the Holiday Inn at Gatwick which is not much more expensive, but offers so much more value in all areas.

Booked this hotel for one night as part of a package with Airparks before our trip to the States. On arrival we parked our car next to another car, but were told to "re-park" as we hadn't parked close enough to the other car. My daughter, who is an experienced driver, re-parked the car as near as she could bearing in mind she had to open the passenger door to remove luggage, and was then promptly told to get closer to the other car and park it again ! The staff behind the reception actually offered to park it for her !!!! Our room faced the car park, and we watched other cars park and not one had to return to re-park their cars even though they had left more space between the cars than we did ! We picked this hotel as the price suited us, but in future we will return to the hotel that costs a little more and the staff are more professional. Fawlty Towers comes to mind! The room was clean and basic. We used the restaurant for dinner, but the barman was also the waiter, so we had a long wait to order both drinks and a meal. There were lots of people waiting to be served. We breakfasted at the airport!

Having travelled all over the USA and stayed in Days Inn Hotels there expected this hotel to be on a par. However, no chance. The hotel needs refurbishing and the facilities show it. Having said that - we needed somewhere to park the car during our holiday to Cyprus and it served that purpose. If you look on this hotel as somewhere to sleep before a flight that is handy for the airport and where you can leave your car then this is fine. The room was clean and tidy the bed was good and we got a good nights sleep before our flight. O K Its not a five star but you aint paying five star prices but it is convenient and handy for Gatwick and we'd use it again for that purpose

Stayed here one night before flying from Gatwick. Booked three rooms as family trip with partners, seven of us in total.. Didn't have us allocated! Took 30 mis to check in(one other person in front), however they do have a sign stating'every customer is important'. Only smiley face was on the female on the early morning shift...all other faces were very glum and abrupt. Used the shuttle bus(asked for two taxis but did a deal and got the shuttle bus for cheaper, but as unreliable, would not do this again), and long delay in the cold of 45mins, despite us having called the hotel twice to request pick up,(they knew our flight arrival time). Driver said he came to stop no. 8 (no he never). He was very grumpy, and short shrift, and answered the mobile whilst driving!!!! Breakfast was ok. You are told to sign a disclaimer if parking there, so you cannot blaim damage on them. They move your car and park 'snuggly' on an area full of pot holes . Damage to my car-chipped paint work and dent in door...not happy!!

Stayed two nights, one before and one after my recent holiday. The decoration in the the reception area was abysmal with loose wires an awful paint job and dirty ancient computer equipment. The reception staff were in urgent need of a Customer Service course, they were miserable and did not know what they were doing. Rooms were basic and on the first night the mattress was completely shot and should have been replaced years ago. On the second night the room appeared to have been recently updated but unfortunately to a very poor standard and in addition the toilet would not flush, the shower dribbled cold water there was no toilet roll holder - all things which should have been picked up by the cleaning staff that morning. I would rate this as the worst hotel I have ever stayed in over the past 50 years and was made it even worse is that I had to pay to stay there!

Room Tip: Stay elsewhere please.

OK for a bed if you have an early flight the next morning, but as a hotel, this is probably one of the worst. The room was clean is about all I can say for it. The window was nailed shut - The staff were unapproachable, checking-in took almost 45 minutes, all had faces as glum as anything. Guests were not permitted to use the restaurant facilities as they had rented it out for an Indian style wedding and over-all we couldn't wait to get the hell out of there !!!

Room Tip: To get a good room and a pleasant experience - find another hotel !!

This hotel was good value and the room was very nicely furnished and good for the price range, it was very clean and in essence well appointed with tea and coffee making facilities and a pleasant bathroom but the extractor fan didn't work, neither did the hair drier, there was a light bulb that was US and you had to run the hot tap for a bath/shower for at least eight minutes for the hot water to come through which was a terrible waste of water.

The walls were extremely thin and as this hotel is mostly used by people flying off from Gatwick you were woken every morning by people having bath/showers at five o'clock in the morning.

Breakfast was freshly cooked and was good value but the dinning room is miserable with no atmosphere. You could not get a decent cup of coffee at breakfast, all they had was a pump vacuum flask full of hot water and sachets of instant coffee. There is no way you would want to have dinner here or a drink in the bar which is very shortsighted. If there had been a nice bar we would ave gone in for a nightcap but it was miserable.

Reception was antiquated with an old dot matrix printer that took ages to print. We originally booked in for one night and then I had phoned them to book three more nights. When we arrived we could only book in for the one night and were asked to come to reception the next morning and book in again for the following three nights! When we tried to do this the next morning they said we couldn't book in because the reception/computer could only deal with people checking out and we had to come back later!

Parking was a nightmare as this hotel does park and fly. One night when we went out and came back at 10pm we got the last parking space, if you arrived any later there were not any at all.

Would not be staying here again.
