Description: Il Sorriso Restaurant is located a 5 minute drive from Gatwick Airport. We are a warm, welcoming and child- friendly restaurant, who use nothing but fresh ingredients to cook our many varied menu, which includes many mouth watering pasta dishes, chicken and fresh fish. We serve the best Pizza's around which are cooked fresh and baked in our special pizza oven by our pizza chef. We cater for parties and special occasions, and children's menu is available. A superb wine list is also available for those wine lovers out there.

“Slightly Dissapointed”
Reviewed 28 June 2014

Went here with a group of friends who wanted to try this place out after hearing good things. Sadly I found the whole experience lacking.

Firstly if you want a quiet meal then don't go here, its loud! the decor is ok nothing spectacular but overall its fine. I did have to ask 3 times for a jug of tap water which when it arrived was warm and I wasn't offered any ice, which was rather annoying, im not a fan of warm water.

I had the calamari to start which was very thin and crispy with a lemon and tartar sauce which was just so acidic it wasn't pleasant.

Then I had meatballs and pasta for main, I just felt it lacked flavour all round, the meatballs were a good size but nothing special and just tasted of meat and lacked seasoning and the sauce was just tomato flavoured and didn't offer much else which was really disappointing.

Overall the staff were nice and it was decently priced but i wouldn't go back unless someone really wanted to go or it was part of a group.

I just didn't feel like this was the authentic Italian everyone said it was.

“Excellent value for money”
Reviewed 28 June 2014

Easy parking in the evening, service really welcoming, good food for an ultra reasonable price.
The only bad side is the noise.
I strongly suggest a reservation for evening week-end as they had to refuse plenty of people when we were there.

“Last visit”
Reviewed 15 June 2014

I paid my last visit to Il Sorrisso last night. We had booked a table for 4 for 1015 after the Archway Theatre finished across the road. Actually, the theatre finished earlier than expected and we arrived at 5 before 10. And they refused to seat us. They said that whoever took the booking shouldn't have. That they were closing at 10. The place wasn't busy although there were about 20 people still seated.

There was no message or missed calls on the phone that made the booking. This is just appalling service. I won't be going back.

Dear sir,
We would like to apologise unreservedly for your very bad experience with us. We are truly sorry that a member of our staff turned you away, it seems that communication had broken down and somewhere along the line he misunderstood something. We are extremely sorry for the inconvenience caused to you and your group, and we would ask you to kindly get into contact with Il Sorriso where we would be delighted to discuss this with you, sadly we have no number for you. Again we extend our sincere apologies to you all and just to clarify we would never have turned you away after having booked with us, and the waiter concerned has been made aware of his mistake. Please do call and ask to speak to the manager/owner. We await your call. Regards Il Sorriso

“As good as they come”
Reviewed 7 June 2014

Vibrant and busy cafe style restaurant in Horley. Pricing on the high side, but this is not regretted as the cooking is authentic, fresh and tasty. If we are looking for a celebratory meal out with company - or just an intimate meal for two, this restaurant is always high on our choice list.

“Cannot be number 5”
Reviewed 10 May 2014

Three hungry people arrived for dinner after a long day. If this is the fifth best restaurant in Horley
I fear for the rest. After forgetting the cutlery for our starters and bringing the wrong drinks - and
who needs serviettes anyway- we were given large portions of tasteless overcooked food, two
different types of veal and one risotto. Friendly service, very loud noise level in an unattractive room. The pizzas looked good but for ' proper' food there has to be better in town.
