“Fantastic for Gatwick Parking and nights stay”
Reviewed 15 August 2012

My daughter and I stayed here for the night before leaving the car for a couple of weeks and going on holiday. We had a great nights sleep. Comfortable room with en suite bathroom. Only costs £3.00 each for transfer to gatwick with free pick up. The cooked English breakfast was lovely plenty of it and as much tea coffee and toast as you like with cereals too. Would definately stay again.

Room Tip: We had an attic room it was compact but suited our requirements we loved the sky light window and sa...

Thought i would leave a review as we have used this hotel 6 times now, The 1st time back in june 2007 and the last time being May 2012. Normally we use this the night before we fly on holiday from Gatwick but the last occasion we left our car with the hotel the day of our flight then stayed over night on our return as was a midnight arrival back at Gatwick. The Cambridge Hotel over the years has has it's rooms modernised which i must say is lovely. It is great that we have been able to have somewhere to sleep before our flight and leave our car for the duration of our holiday. We have never had a problem with ourcar staying here which did worry us the 1st time. We found the staff at all times to be really friendly and the breakfasts were nice n tasty. Never had dnner here though as we have always taken a 15 minute walk upto the Air Balloon which does lovely meals at a very good price. We are going away again in October and have booked to stay at the Cambridge hotel yet again as we have nevr had a problem with them even with our lil toddler now in tow. Overall a great price for a stay and park Hotel!

We went to the cambridge for a one night before travelling from Gatwick. When we arrived the staff on the desk was too busy chatting to her mate on the phone and didn't acknowledge our presence, and just handed in a checking in form with no words spoken. Given key and found own way to room. Went to the Harvester for dinner about 5 mins drive. Check out in the morning at 7am there was no staff on the desk - i had to hunt around for staff to check out and leave car keys with. Finally after 10 mins found someone who could not find our paperwork. The hotel bus driver didn't speak all the way to the airport apart from "which terminal". Coming back the driver was even more somber. When we arrived back at the hotel we were given our keys and told the car was in the pound, but it was still in the exact same place were we left it. in the main carpark.

Only use this place if you have too, and if you don't mind be ignored by the staff, and you are on a low budget

Stayed here in July for one night prior to going on a two week holiday. Reception staff were not very helpful. Room was clean, bed was a bit firm. Tea and coffee making facilities in room. Reasonable location, about a 30 min walk to the local Harvester restaurant, this maybe quicker without a push chair though.

The bar was quiet, quick service but a little over priced.

They parked our cars for the duration of our two weeks holiday and provided transfers to and from Gatwick for a small cost per person. Telephone request collection from airport on return.
Nice and quick service when returning to hotel to collect cars, which had been moved to the storage car park.

Would use the hotel again if flying from Gatwick, its conveinient.

Stayed two nights here at the start and midway between a two country holiday. The first night we arrived quite late. We were given a room on the ground floor near reception facing the car park. The bedroom and bathroom were clean and the in room facilities ok We didn't sleep very well as we had noise from the cars and could hear talking at reception. The breakfast was good.
The second time we stayed we were given a rear facing room and this was better. On both occasions the mini bus was waiting at the reception to drop us to,the airport and not too long a wait for the return journey. A reasonable hotel for the price.

we arrived at the cambridge hotel on friday 10th may for a nights stay prior to our holiday, was impressed by the first look at the hotel, but as soon as we went to check in things soon went downhill.. some rooms haven't any hot water & we are fully booked we were told..so we were packed of to a guest house of theirs a few miles away..this seems to be a pattern of theirs according to trip advisor reveiws, the car was left there while we were away, during our holiday i was taken ill & we had to stay a week later so we phoned the hotel to let them know we were going to be about a week longer away this was fine with them, on our return to the hotel my wife me & doctor in tow, we were told our car would not start the previous week when they tried to move it..which they did , they jump started it apparently, now this car was fine when we left it there.. they moved the car from where we left it parked so there was no problem with it then, so when we went to our car they sent one of their staff out to jump start it again, i was in the car while he tried to jump start it.. Then smoke started coming from under the bonnet of the car, i got out & told him to get the leads of the battery as he had them connected wrongly for jump starting this car..!! in the end we called "our "breakdown service he told us this car was damaged by jump starting wrongly..the car was recovered by our insurance company.. & was duly written off as £2230 pound of damage was done jump starting it wrongly buy hotel staff..!! to date we have not had an appology phone call from the manager not even to say sorry for what happened or ask if our car was now ok, i would not trust this hotel with a tesco trolly let alone your car..!! will be interesting to see what the hotels reply & excuses will be to follow up this reveiw.. i bet they dont contact me to discuss this reveiw. Having read some of the reviews on tripadvisor, we were a bit worried what our experience of the Cambridge hotel would be like. We arrived at 9:00pm on a Fridday evening - our room (24?) was a short step from reception. The room and the bathroom were adequate size the main bed was comfortable although the extra bed for our son was a little less comfortable. The room temperature was fine, all the plumbing worked and it was a quiet room - so had as good a night's sleep as you can expect before an early flight.

We had already eaten before leaving home so didn't try the restaurant but menu looked extensive. We had a drink in the bar - £4 for pint of Stella so prices about average (unless you're from up North I syppose).

Transfer to airport was on time and only took 15 minutes.

On return rang the hotel after clearing customs went straight to the bus stop where our bus was already waiting - obviously the time you have to wait for pick-up depends on where the bus is at the time you ring. No fuss when we got to the hotel, picked up the car and were on the road in 5 minutes. Would definitely use this hotel again.
