We visited Stirling Castle on 1st July 2014, parked in the town and walked up the hill. I was thinking of trying to find somewhere for lunch when we spotted Hermanns. The menu on display outside showed 2 courses for £10 lunches and had a reasonable selection but seemed a bit of an odd mix. We went in anyway because my husband was hungry (and he is a bit grumpy when hungry).
The restaurant was empty but was nicely turned out with linen table clothes etc. We were shown to a table and given then menu which had a better selection than shown on the outside board. The waitress answers any questions confidently and took our order efficiently. She did point out there would be a 20 minute delay for the chicken main course my husband ordered.
We had a lovely meal. Husband had duck liver pate with oaty biscuits and a bit of salad and then had chicken as the main with a slice of haggis on top in a lovely sauce. I had pasta with bacon, mushrooms and eggs (sort of a carbonara). Food delicious, service great, nice clean toilets, good price. What more can you ask for? I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Stirling. Don't be put off by how empty it may look, it was outstanding.
