Description: An award winning restaurant situated in the green and pleasant village of Causewayhead in Stirling, The Birds and The Bees is a dining room built around a passion for food. Located in an old one story whitewashed farmstead, The Birds and The Bees proudly displays its rusticity, with cartwheels on the outside walls, a choice of two beer gardens and exposed brick and open fires aplenty inside. The result is a cosy and warm, the lighting kept low and an eclectic mix of old and new decorative touches providing character and a talking point too. As an informal wine-bar and bistro, The Birds and The Bees has an informal atmosphere matched by the menu, a tempting collection of dishes both locally and internationally influenced, all using locally sourced produce wherever possible. The kitchen staff really care about the food theyre cooking, evidenced by not only the high level of flavour in their homecooked dishes but also in the careful, attractive presentation of every plate. Drink options include a great many carefully selected wines as well as excellent ales and lagers on tap.

“Great meals!”
Reviewed 7 June 2013

Stuart at the Ravenwood B&B suggested we go to the Birds and the Bees for dinner, we are very pleased he did. We had pheasant and steak & ale pie. Both were excellent, the portions are large, meals are very eye appealing as well as tasty. Plus they came with a side order of veggies. The meals were an ok price for what we received, In Canada, I think we would have paid more for pheasant. We noticed lots of other meals and desserts going by us and they all looked good. Thanks to Stuart for calling to make us a reservation as the place was soon filled up after we arrived. We would definitely recommend dinner here. Enjoy!

“Beautiful food but not impressed with service”
Reviewed 3 June 2013 via mobile

I ate here a few nights ago with some friends. Two of my friends ordered the beef from the specials menu & were disappointed that they weren't told until 15 mins after their order that they had ran out of beef so they had to decide on the spot something else to order - no menus were provided! The food arrived about half an hour after it was ordered & none of us had any complaints with the food at all, everything was amazing!!!

Again it took a while for our plates to be cleared & offered the sweet menu. After we'd finished our sweets it took about 40 minutes for a waitress to come anywhere near our table to offer us anymore drinks or for us even to ask for the bill. Overall I think this is a fantastic establishment in a beautiful setting & the food is amazing. I will be back purely for they reasons but I was not impressed with the young waiter or the service so this could be improved.

“Charming atmosphere, great service”
Reviewed 18 May 2013

My daughter and I stumbled upon this place when I was visiting her in April. It was a bit off the main road in a really quaint neighborhood. The atmosphere was a fantastic mix of traditional and modern as was the menu. The food was fantastic and very reasonable. The service was excellent.

Reviewed 15 May 2013

I booked a table for myself, daughter and two grandchildren, aged 5 and 6. The staff were very pleasant and efficient and the food was very good, served hot and nicely presented.Very cosy and quaint surroundings and good value for money. Good children's menu to choose from and the staff were very child friendly.
