“Lovely, cheerful and delightful B&B farmhouse in Stirling”
Reviewed 15 August 2011

Stayed with my father and nieces (7 & 13) plus small dog, had a lovely warm welcome from the owners upon our arrival.

Staying at Dasherhhead was a treat, found it to be very homely and cosy. Rooms are very well presented and tastefully decorated. You get a real sense that the farmhouse is well loved and family orientated, it was a pleasure to stay there.

Excellent, picturesque views and a safe paddock for the dog to exercise. Breakfast was superb and delicious.

We went on to stay at other B&Bs in Inverness and Edinburgh, my youngest niece kept asking when we'd be going back to Dasherhead as she loved it that much!

I'm glad we didn't read the other review before trying Dasherhead; it couldn't be more different than the picture that paints. It is a lovely old farmhouse decorated in stylishly and the owner couldn't have tried harder to give us a warm welcome despite the freezing winter weather, with a roaring fire and our own sitting room. We'd definitely go back, including the dogs who had their own outside running area.

after getting off a flight in glasgow this B&B was our first stop on a 3 day journey around scotland.
having stayed there overnight, i now realize i should of stayed in the car instead.
the official dasherhead site shows a really nice bedroom, a dining room and also a sitting room, however, in reality , the bedroom and home in general has low beams and ceilings that a person over 6ft will get caught out by. it was decorated with pink sheets, dressing gowns etc... so it looked like a twin room for girls only, which was off putting as we were males. the room itself had a small radio but no t.v or refreshments available.
once in the house,we were shown straight to the room and also shown the bathroom, but all other rooms including dining and sitting rooms were NOT pointed out and all doors to them were closed.
is a jug of water and two glasses to much to expect??????? i guess it was.
the sitting room shown on the site was never pointed out let alone made available for us to use even when i asked later that day, the bathroom looks like its only half finished.
i have never gone into any bathroom and not been able to draw curtains fully, yet in this house, the curtain rail only goes half way across the window. i used the shower but once again, the curtain was small and only went halfway up the bath in length, so you can have a shower but cant really move while having it.
there was a really long hair still in the bath and then when i went to the sink , there was 1 in there too.
there was absolutely no reference ever to any brochures or leaflets anywhere that could point out places to see etc... but i was told the village of gargunnock was only 10 minutes walk away, which it was.
there was 2 clocks in the room when we arrived and 1 had to be put in a draw because it was very loud, explaining this to the wife the next morning, she replied ' thats unusual, most guests say thats the quietest room in the house'. i can only presume she misheard me but by then we were leaving and i just wanted to get out so i never re-explained.
the breakfast was warm at best and so was the pot of coffee i had brought to me, as i proved to my friend by leaving my finger in it as soon as i poured out the first cup.
needless to say that was my very first ever night in scotland and it was the worst experience i've ever had when staying anywhere in the world!
i would definitely NOT recommend this place and thankfully when we went onto our next B&B (newton farmhouse B&B in forfar) , we were greeted by a wonderful lady, who even under pressure smiled and remained happy , and made us feel totally at home.
all doors remained open and she was readily available to talk or guide you to local places etc.. as well as having all kind of tourist information in the hallways and rooms.
tea.coffee ,water and t.v with freeview was available in every room , and although the nearest shops etc.. were a little further away, it was more than worth it.
dasherhead should be closed down as a B&B and that couple should never be allowed to take anyones money ever again under false pretenses. its a disgrace that these people trade as a B&B but i hope that the local council eventually put a stop to it.
every place apart from 1 we visited or stayed was wonderful, but if you have any sense , you will stay well away from dasherhead B&B.
