We had not booked accommodation and happened to select Castlecraig by dropping in. It was the best decision we made on our trip to Stirling. The house is decieving from the road as the guest accommodation is secluded at the rear of the premises and is surprisingly quiet and peaceful.

Helen the host is delightfull and friendly, the rooms have a private entry at the rear and you don't feel like you are intruding into someones house as can be the case with other B&B's.
The rooms and en-suite bathroom were clean and fresh and althought he breakfast is continental there was a great selection of fresh fruit, breads etc. I had the most delicious scrambled eggs on toast as you will find anywhere.

There is free Wi-Fi connection and even a great selection of DVD's available if you just want to chill and watch a movie.

Highly recommended.

Was looking for a B&B in Causeway Head near the Birds and Bees (pub). Both that I have used in the past were full, was given number for Castlecraig by owner of one of the other 2.

Pro's - Good location & off street parking. Rooms clean.

Con's - Rather dorm like rooms located in separate extension to house. Not a typical B&B set-up, owner defintately tries to keep very distinct from their house so definately doesn't have typical Scottish B&B (welcome to our house) feel. Breakfast continental only.

Didn't sleep too well as guests in room above were noisy until the wee hours, though that likely was bad luck on our part. Owner did ask about noise in the morning so apparently had heard it but did not take any action to ask them to be quiet. Again the noise issue probably isn't typical.

Overall - Basic but clean, would use in a pinch but only if other options were not available.
