Owner description: Dominating the skyline for miles around, Stirling Castle is a shining example of Renaissance architecture. Visitors can look out from its high stone walls to the battlefields of Stirling Bridge where great medieval armies clashed to decide the fate of nations. Home to generations of Scottish monarchs including, Mary Queen of Scots, the Castle is an enduring and powerful reminder of our fascinating history.

A little on the expensive side for entrance, but well worth it. Loads to see, give yourself half a day at least. Also the views from the ramparts are stunning.

As i live locally i visit a few times a year. I visited this time with my college class, as part of an assessment. A few of us took our own cars and when we arrived we were sat in the Que of cars for nearly 30 minutes. When finally reaching the entrance it was because the car park was full and I was told that there was signs up saying this. Me and two other cars from college did not see any of these and no one had an idea as to what was holding everything up. Luckily we didn't have to pay for the car park as we were on an educational trip, but paying £4 just to park your car is a bit much. Cafe is also quite expensive and i would always suggest taking a pack lunch as we did.
I always enjoy visitng the Castle as i love history and it never seems to be boring.

Thank feeeg

Although the weather wasn't very nice we ended up having a great time at the castle. The normal admission fee, which is expensive ended up being a better deal for us since we opted for the Explorers Pass, that way we got into lots of places for one flat fee. The area to look around in is quite large and we arrived late in the day so there wasn't a lot of other guests. The views were quite impressive and I have really enjoyed my photos when we got back home. We had taken a tour around northern England and Scotland and visited 8 different castles, these were my rankings.

On arrival of the great Towering Castle, the first thought was of how overwhelming & imposing the building actually is! It is Huge, Old, oozes with Grandeur & Magnificence! After entering this awe inspiring sight we proceeded to explore some of the great walls to seek out the views outside the Castle, it is amazing, it has views on all four sides! We proceeded on a guided tour which was very informative & highly recommended that you take the time to do so! It lasts around 45 minutes. We already knew about William Wallace & Robert the Bruce, so we had a small amount of information about the sieges & Mary Queen of Scots, but to actually enter the place that she was christened and raised & to see the region that was overcome by sieges, there are no words that can describe standing right there where it all happened! .

Wee bit expensive at £14 a head plus parking but steeped in Scottish history with great views. Well worth a visit for all ages.
