Owner description: Dominating the skyline for miles around, Stirling Castle is a shining example of Renaissance architecture. Visitors can look out from its high stone walls to the battlefields of Stirling Bridge where great medieval armies clashed to decide the fate of nations. Home to generations of Scottish monarchs including, Mary Queen of Scots, the Castle is an enduring and powerful reminder of our fascinating history.

*be aware that this review is written by an history lover* and the landscape around the castle.... I must admit I've cried, it was breathtaking. So much history (Mary Queen of Scots in particular), beautiful country. I'm really happy I took a one day trip. But if u go by bus, bring motion sickness pills... very hilly (specially if u sit at the back!).

“Stirling Castle”
Reviewed 16 June 2014

If you are interested in your history About Mary Queen of Scots then Stirling Castle is a must. What I found unusual about this castle is the amount of rooms you could roam through. If you take advantage of the digital recorders telling you the story of the castle you will hear loads of information I am not sure you would find in a book. The views are stunning from the walls and there are plenty of places you can sit and eat sandwiches if you want a picnic. This is a site all ages would enjoy with lots of interesting things for the young ones to enjoy, from dressing up to playing instruments.

“Great start to a visit in the Highlands!”
Reviewed 16 June 2014

Stirling Castle is a great introduction to Scotland and Scottish history. A strategic base of power and a hub of highway leading from Edinburgh to the north make it an easy trip from the airport, a history buffs dream. Especially nice for a newbie to Scotland was the graciousness of all the guides and support functionaries. Wonderful ambassadors of Scotland. Well produced exhibits. Something for everyone frm 2 to 102. Highlights are the Palace with the displays and actors. Note: although they've worked considerably to accommodate all, there are lots of stairs and exhibits are spread throughout this up and down, in and out labyrinth of palace rooms and battlements. WC facilities were top notch, and the cafe was a welcome surprise of contemporary cafe. Would attract guests even on the high street of Stirling.

“Fill a day”

Lots to see around the castle complex - the Audio guide is well worth the small additional charge to get a full idea of everything there is to see in the site.
