“Another fantastic day out for the whole family”
Reviewed 14 July 2014

We knew Blair Drummond was going to be a good day out but hadn't expected it to be as good as it was. We took the car round twice and then parked up and had a picnic on a gorgeous day in the shade of a tree. The barbecue facilities there look like a fantastic set up, although we didn't use them , plenty of others were taking advantage and it smelled good! There is also a bbq stand that you can buy bbq food from if you don't want to go the hassle of bringing your own food and doing it yourself! We didn't take advantage of all the rides as it was busy and hot and were trying to stay in the shade as much as possible (being orcadians we aren't used to hot sun!) We went to the Zoo earlier in the week and the Safari park was so much better, the play areas were great, the walking was easier, it was easier to navigate and a better way to spend the day! The sealion show was great (if a little on the warm side on a hot day!), I've seen sealions in action once before and it still amazes me how clever they are! The birds of prey talk was also absolutely fantastic and getting to see Drummond the new baby Snowy owl was the icing on the cake! The Vulture was ace too, I've never like them, but he changed my opinion of them, he was ace! We were cooking hot at times through the day, but there was plenty choice in drinks and ice-cream to help keep us cool. The whole place just felt so well thought out and you really feel like it's all been sorted to give you the best possible experience!

“Fantastic Day Out”
Reviewed 13 July 2014

My partner and I decided to go to the Safari Park as a birthday treat for her and we were not disappointed. The weather on the day was fantastic which helped make the attraction and animals that bit more special.

The Park is more suited to families but there is plenty to do and see to keep the adults and young couples engaged and happy.

Getting to the safari park was fairly easy with the sat-nav but signage could be a little better on the main roads. As you enter the park, you purchase tickets at the gates and the customer service was quick and to the point. The blonde girl who served us lacked any really enthusiasm or customer service, but given the fact it was 25 degrees at 11am and she was stick in a Perspex box, I wouldn't be so chipper either.

Driving in was fine and my partner and I wanted to do the "safari" element first as it was still fairly quiet. Signage to start the safari, leading up to the entry point, was not great and we didn't really know where to go. However, once we were in, it was great and well organised. Staff are on hand for any potential incident and they are very strict about keeping windows closed.

After the safari, there was ample parking and picnic spaces where you are able to bring your own BBQ equipment if you chose to. There are also a number of cafe and food provisions throughout the park serving basic lunches, ice creams, drinks, etc.

The sea-lion show was very good but the woman who was hosting it was dour. She actually shouted at visitors through her microphone because they weren't seated quickly enough and it came across very unfriendly and rude. Her general body language and tone of voice was miserable and she lacked any real enthusiasm for a job that should be exciting and engaging for the public. I know a number of young, newly qualified zoologists who are desperate to work in jobs such as this and who would bring much more excitement and performance to the role of sea-lion master.

The gift shop in the main hub of activity was well stocked and presented. The girls serving gave a warm welcome when I walked in and checked if I needed help. This is top class customer service in my opinion.

The animal enclosures are well kept and maintained and all the animals seem to be content and comfortable in their surroundings. I was disappointed to see that the bear enclosure was closed and there was no explanation as to why this was the case. There was no staff around to ask why but this didn't spoil what was a genuinely enjoyable day.

Highlights were the incredibly cute and active meerkats who enjoyed the attention of visitors, the tigers and the sea-lion show (despite the lady in charge).

The play parks looked amazing but at 26 years of age and without a child, I could not justify going on to play.

“Fantastic day out”
Reviewed 13 July 2014 via mobile

On paying the £14 entry fee Per person we expected a simple guide and show times but instead got a window sticker and a leaflet on health and safety ! But from then on things just got better , started off driving around safari area which isn't the biggest but getting within feet of the lions is incredible. Toured the foot section next at which point we photographed timings and map , again very interesting and talks by staff really good. Sealion show good but short due to only one sealion being available ( good reason though ) and bird of prey show brilliant and trainers very chatty after, they really love their job. Overall a brilliant day out as you can drive round as often as you like, animals do move around too. Food not cheap but plenty of tables for packed lunches and they even have BBQ stands for you to use your own BBQ on. Would heartily recommend visiting here, you won't regret it

“Lions but no wardrobe”
Reviewed 12 July 2014

if you like safari parks this is a good visit, not as big as some but has the advantage of being amongst the highland landscape

much better than a zoo as the animals have more room obviously...a good day out if the rain keeps off

“Fun day out for the family”
Reviewed 11 July 2014 via mobile

We visited on a very hot day so a lot of the animals were sleeping but still lots to see. We drove around enclosures when we arrived and on way out. Well worth it as saw tigers right up at car on way out, and elephants and rhino up close on way in. Kids loved the play park. Amusements very expensive and park entrance as we have four children. Lots of photos taken meerkats all popped out on cue. Good how you can walk in and out of the animals areas so you can catch them even if they have gone inside because of the heat. Staff all very helpful. Sealion show well worth visit. Never had time for bird of prsy show maybe next time
