My friend and I had booked into the Terraces Hotel for one night to break our journey from Skye to Manchester. Had read reviews and thought it couldn't be as bad as they said. After all it looked good on the photos. Guess what, it was! and worse! Thread bare stair carpet, very messy unpainted putty around window panes, cups stained, wall paper peeling, dust and muck in general and to top it all the toilet clearly hadn't been cleaned! The duty manager did manage to find us another twin room even though he had told me 'room 2' was the only available twin. Room 6 wasn't a lot better . Mouldy grouting in the shower was a real stomach turner! The Duty Manager seemed surprised when we told him we weren't staying. He asked if we would like to see another room and I assured him two was enough! He asked us what was wrong with the rooms and seemed oblivious to the fact that there were serious issues with cleanliness and presentation. We had paid £60 each through Booking.com and note that others have paid even more for this squalid accommodation. I note that in reply to reviews the manager has welcomed feedback . Empty words if nothing is done to correct the problems. I can only assume The Terraces Hotel has some sort of parallel universe , where everything is clean, well presented, and working. How else do you account for the 'brilliant' reviews. You are deluded Mr manager if you think this passes for acceptable accommodation. WE WON'T BE BACK!!

Room Tip: Best tip! Don't go!

Dear Madam,
Many thanks for taking the time to review the hotel. We appreciate all feedback and we are sorry that we fell below your expectations on this occasion. The positive reviews which we receive only show me that we must continue to strive for 100% positive reviews. I would of very much liked to have spoken with you while you were at the hotel to try and restore your faith in our service.
Kind Regards
General Manager

Stayed here with hubby by default as the original booking was for another hotel but they relocated us in here the night before we arrived so no choice.

Checking in was stressful as the receptionist clueless and disorganised, told us our room ready but when we went upstairs, the cleaning lady told us that it was just vacated 2 minutes ago by guests and she was just about to clean it. So, we have to go down again and be re allocated another room! Room very basic, hair on toilet floors, towels old and looked grubby.

Also, the hot water is dangerous to have a shower as one minute it's the right temperature and then it becomes extremely hot to the point of scalding you! You have to switch it on and off, and constantly change the temperature to regulate it and hold the shower head so you will be assured you won't get burned! We reported it but nothing been done or they didn't even come back to us to say whatever. Glad it's only overnight stay!!!

Breakfast was ok.

The Staff were great.
The food was tasty and imaginative.
But the Hotel itself is tired and in need of refurbishment. The bedrooms all need a good dusting too. A shame really because the latter greatly effects the rating that I give.

My husband & I spent two nights 27th & 28th June For Armed Forces Day. When we arrived the Receptionist was dealing with an American couple whose room had been cancelled by an outside agency. I was really impressed with the way she phoned round various places until she managed to get them alternative accommodation. The room was "jaded" & could do with refurbishment however it was clean & bedding towels were spotless so we could live with that. When we booked some time ago we were asked if we wanted B&B or DBB we opted for B&B but were told if we wanted Dinner it wouldn't be a problem as we were residents. On Friday we asked if we could book for Sat. but were told the Restaurant was closed due to two weddings. On returning on Friday night we asked if we could have a drink & were told to go into the Bistro, about ten people were finishing meals. There seemed to be only one member of staff & after ten minutes waiting we left. Returning to the hotel on Saturday night we were met with the Disco in full flow from one of the weddings. The noise could be heard all over the hotel & sleep was impossible. Breakfast was average, with the choice of fruit etc. very limited. I don't think we would use this hotel in the future.

Although It's no fault of the staff, we were looking forward to a lovely stay at the terraces hotel but the hot water service which came on every time anyone turned the hot water tap on and made a terrible loud buzzing noise, made it impossible to sleep, at least in room 17. My husband complained to the porter at ten and eleven and at twelve midnight thought about sleeping in the car to get some peace and quiet! We were moved the next night into a much better room although by then our stay was spoiled. We would not stay there again.

Room Tip: Don't have anything past room fifteen

this accomodation is as the title says: good value for your money. the rooms are not beautifully done, but they are clean, and silent where you can have a good, restful night.
the customer service is goo, whenever I needed them they were there.
I saw some bad reviews, which surprised me, as I think this place gave me what they promised - so don't expect a 5* stay - but you can trust that you get what you paid for.

We went to the Terraces Hotel on a last minute whim in order to catch a movie which was only still playing in Stirling. Clean very spacious room, good breakfast, no complaints. It's pretty central and you get what you pay for.
