This B&B is located just under the castle. Access to the castle and the old town area is by public paths that make interesting walks through a wooded area. The public sitting room had nice views of the gardens, the city of Stirling and surrounding countryside. The room was well appointed and comfortable Laura was the perfect hostess. Breakfast included the best haggis to be had in all of Scotland! Because of the winding roads around the castle, it was a bit difficult to find on foot, so I would advise arriving by taxi before attempting the public paths.

What a wonderful experience we had at Castlecroft. Laura is a great hostess. She steered us right every time. The first night she showed us a wooded trail to walk around the castle mountain to get to the restaurant she had recommended. It was quite a fun and unique experience. And the restaurant, Henderson's, was top-notch all the way. Our daughter had been studying at Stirling University, and we went over from the US to pick her up and spend a few days in Europe. She had to be out of her flat that morning, and Laura let her get in the room early and wait for our arrival that afternoon. Also, the breakfast was phenominal. If we're back in Stirling, we will definitely stay at Castlecroft.

Great 3 night stay with the family. It would make an excellent stop for any family as is close to all historical sites in Stirling. Breakfast was so good we didn't have to buy lunch once!!!!
Cleanliness was top notch and roomsin excellent condition.
Noticed that the host would do almost anything for her guests including phoning train station for train times. She would even offer tea and coffe during the evening to guests sitting in the communal lounge.

I recommend Castlecroft in Stirling. The location is excellent (easy walking distance through wooded trails to castle and old town) and Laura is an agreeable host who serves an excellent breakfast.

Having previously had 1 night stays on our way to/from the Scottish Highlands we decided that the Stirling area would be an interesting area to visit for a week - this was hugely strengthened by the wonderful accommodation and welcome at Castlecroft. Castlecroft itself is well-positioned close to the town centre and Stirling Castle but also far enough away to be peaceful. Laura and her mother made us feel at home immediately and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfasts are amazing with excellent quality ingredients and a huge choice. Very comfortable well proportioned rooms with high quality facilities. Laura gave us plenty of suggestions/recommendations for places to visit and eat locally. We will definitely be back for more excellent scottish hospitality! Thanks Laura

Room Tip: All rooms are excellent - the upper level are family rooms with lovely views

My husband and I arrived at Castlecroft after a busy day of travel and immediately felt we'd found a home-away-from-home. Laura was great and gave us a quick introduction to the B&B and to Stirling so that we would have time to visit Stirling Castle before it closed. She gave us a map showing the wooded paths to walk to the Castle and to town, which was great, because the walks added a lot of enjoyment to our day. Laura apologized for the "small" room, which was her last available, but it was perfect for our needs and very comfortable. The only possible negative comment I can think of about the room is that it would have been nice to have shades or blinds on the windows, since the sun comes up so very early in the summer, but with the radiator on (it was quite cool outside!) we felt we couldn't close the drapes--a very minor quibble. Breakfast was wonderful, including the tasty haggis--probably the best breakfast we had all trip. All in all a great place to stay and a fantastic bargain.

It is hard to express just how much we really enjoyed staying with Laura at her Castlecroft guest house. From the moment we arrived way too early on a day that she was busily moving almost a full house out to when we picked up our bags for a late train both she and her guest house were gracious to the Nth degree.

The location is lovely and we were quickly guided to both the Upper and Lower Back Walks for easy trips into the old town and onwards to the castle. Eventually we took both and enjoyed both (watch out for animal droppings!) and easily found our way to and from town even with the rain coming down. While we were at the guest house, the beautiful lounge was the perfect place to curl up with a book and watch the storms roll across the sky through the huge picture windows. The rooms were warm, spacious, and well-appointed. Breakfast was a delight even though she was a bit short staffed that morning. When we were ready for next adventures, Laura was quick to call us a taxi. Food recommendations in town were perfect.

If you are hesitant about haggis, hesitate no longer! Try it here at Castlecroft -- she gets it specially from a small producer in Linlithgow -- and you'll be an instant convert!

Those with scent sensitivity may want the heads up that the potpourri here is fragrant and floral, and used a bit more lavishly than might be elsewhere. For me it added to the ambiance and beauty but it crossed my mind that it would have bothered my sister. Just something to be aware of.

In all it was a beautiful stay despite the weather and I truly hope to return one day to this marvelous guest house.
