“Quiet after Stirling Castle”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 January 2012

After the biz at the Castle this is a bit more quiet - there's a constant theme in my reviews - I love quiet.
The house is VERY interesting and has been recently done up.

“A goo piece of Scottish History.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 January 2012

This attraction is a must if you visit Stirling Castle. The history of the buildings gives a good insight into the way people lived and developed their surroundings to suit their needs. A guided tour is a must and don't be affraid to ask questions. The guide I had was not only knowledgeable but really entertaining.

“Worthwhile experience”

We were very fortunate to have a guide " Charlie " who displayed a depth of understanding of his subject matter and a passion for Argyll"s history.

“insight into upper class life over the centuries”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 September 2011

As entry by guided tour is included in the castle ticket and the house and its former occupants are very interesting, the visit is well worthwhile. Like many visits to big old houses you are only shown a handful of rooms and are left wondering what went on behind all the closed doors you don't see into. Nonetheless, the guide we had told the story with enthusiasm and humour, and didn't sound as though he had been telling the same story for years. Another good thing about this visit is that photos are allowed and we had time after the guide finished to take photos and ask questions.
