We diverted here for lunch on day 4 of our walk along the West Highland Way. It was just about worth the extra 15 minutes walking each way.
Caledonian Flying Scotsman was the only ale (pretty good), and I had baked potato with chilli to eat which was fine.
Nothing that special, but on balance I would probably divert again.

This is a comfortable pub with a local restaurant feel. Portions are large and a good value. Service is good and the staff friendly. Good food and, of course, good ales! This is right next door to the Craigbank House B&B so is an easy walk for tired feet.

We stayed along the road at the Best Western, Crianlarich but ate each evening in the Rod and Reel. The staff were welcoming and friendly so we decided to eat there. I've read other reviews about the sloping floor and not much in the bar...why does it matter? The floor is quirky and the pub predominantly serves walkers, it doesn't need it's space filled with other clutter.
On the first night when we ordered, we couldn't believe the plate full of food that arrived, it was lovely. Very tasty and we couldn't eat it all there was so much. The menu is big, so lots to choose from. The second night we thought we'd have a snack and a starter...still mountains of food - what value!!
Welcoming staff, quality food, value for money and home cooked - brilliant.
If passing, we will definitely call again.

We were passing on a wet Sun in February & needed something to eat before heading home. It is quite a basic wee pub and wasn't busy when we were there. The barmaid was friendly enough when she took our order & the chef brought our meal out herself. We both had burgers and the were tasty with a nicely toasted roll. My daughter had chilli in hers and said it was nice and spicy without being too hot.

Popped into the Rod and Reel on our way to Oban on Hogmanay. The staff were warm and friendly however the interior is nothing special however the pub style food was lovely. There was plenty on the menu to choose from and we all had a main course and drinks. The food was good hearty Scottish style food and plenty of it and everything was warm and well presented. This is no top class restaurant but decent food for travellers.
