We visited for a lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Despite the nice interior, the place was deserted - only another 2 tables in. As a result the staff were fairly attentive - at times perhaps excessively so, although they were very pleasant and quite young. The menu is fine - your usual pub grub and prices are ok. The food was just that - ok. Presentation was nice and the portion sizes fine. I do however have a couple of gripes...
1. The side salad which accompanies most dishes is drowning in a mustard style dressing. This is not indicated on the menu and I do have an allergy to mustard...
2. The fries were done in an oil which tasted stale and greasy, they were also neither fresh or home made!
3. The bruschetta is nice but topped by excessive amounts of shaved parmesan and balsamic - again the kitchen are a bit over the top in their dressings.
4. The macaroni is pretty mediocre, almost on a par with a tinned variety - drowning in bland sauce. A bit of seasoning and cheddar would have helped.
Please note, I am a fussy eater with a range of food intolerances. This place is ok, inoffensive, nice décor, friendly staff, decent service and not pricey however given the range of similar places in the region it would be a while before I would return.
