I attended a one day course at the college today and lunch in the Gallery was included. The food and service were both really excellent.

The starter of mushroom and lentil was well balanced, the main of chicken stuffed with pine nuts and apricot had a delicious wrap of bacon and fresh sage. Lovely fresh vegetables as well.

The view from the restaurant looks out over the burn, fields and Wallace Monument. Could not pick a better spot to eat.

I asked about opening times as I fully intent to return as a private guest. Well done to the students.

We have eaten in the Gallery quite often and always been delighted with the food but last night the meal was superb. The amuse bouche was steak with mushroom and fried quails egg which was lovely, we all had the confit of duck as a starter which was quite large and served with lentils - extremely good. I had the risotto which was served in a crispy cheese basket and was actually too much for me. I had the profiteroles with pistachio ice cream (wrapped in crushed pistachios) which again was superb and the other three people has the sponge pudding which they said was very good. We then got little baked alaskas as petit four which must have been very difficult to make. The service was also very good.

Just had a meal in one of the best kept secrets in this area. Forth Vally College in Stirling situated on the banks of the Forth, Where the old Cattle Market was. The restaurant run by students has stunning views of the Forth and the Ochil Hills, it may not be the most glamorously laid out dining room but "THE MEAL" !!. Absolutely brilliant, small menu but great choices Starter 10/10, Main 10/10 Sweet 12/10. The staff are terrific all students with enthusiasm ,manners and very very helpful. I was not going to write this review because I would prefer to keep this a secret but sometimes you have to give praise where it is due and boy is it just.
By the way for this gourmet 3 course meal including coffee and macaroons we paid £10 a head.
