“Warm Scottish hospitality”
Reviewed 24 September 2012

My hubby and I stayed at Auchyle Guest House during a recent trip to Edinburgh. We had been on the road all day and were having trouble finding any vacancies in Stirling, so we were relieved with Mandi from Auchyle Guest House said they had a spare double room.

Mandi made us welcome from the moment she opened the front door. I told her that I was starving, so she offered to drive us into town (only two minutes away) to save us having to walk. We took her up on the offer and were sitting in a cosy restaurant within minutes! I couldn't believe our luck!

The guest house had central heating and lovely furnishings. We also had our own bathroom and TV. Mandi and her staff made us a hot breakfast the following morning at the time of our choosing. This was a welcome change from some B&Bs who give you a small window in which to eat. We accidentally left a small laptop part in the room which Mandi kindly searched the room for after we left and posted to us via first-class. You're unlikely to find warmer hospitality than this.

What more can I say, this has got to be one of the friendliest guest houses I have ever stayed in. The rooms were spotless, the food excellent and Mandi and Tom could not do enough for my friend and I. We were dropping our children at Stirling university and needed a guest house for the night. Ourselves and our families will be definitely booking a return visit, thank you for a lovely welcome and stay

This is a very well positioned B&B in Stirling with good value for your money. Even if the rooms are smallish, they are very nice, clean and cozy. The breakfast is excellent, with a lot of choices - it gives you all the energy you need for a long day's trip in beautiful Stirling. And the service that comes with the breakfast is very pleasant as well, be it any member of the family that runs this place. If we go back to Stirling, we'll stay at this place for sure.

We found this quest house after a crazy day with our 8 month old. We were stressed and starving! Maggie, Tom, Harry, & Haggis made us welcome. The room was lovely, very clean, & the location was great- short walk to the Sainburys for re-enforcements. Breakfast was huge and delicious- left us full all day. They have parking in back and on the street & even let us borrow their washer for the little guys clothes!

We had such a great time we came back through on out way to England and stayed 2 nights just to relax!

I cannot say enough great things about this place

Room Tip: The room across from the dining room was my favourite!

Mandy and Tom were warm and friendly, the kind of nature you soon associate with Scotland. On my Business trip to Stirling, they not only helped in every way and were always up for a chat.

The B&B felt like home. Highly recommended!

Room Tip: Rooms are of different sizes and some have couches while others don't. Do take a look at all the...

We stayed here for 4 nights at the end of August. Mandy is very welcoming, helpful and always makes time for a chat. We had an excellent clean and tidy room (the one in the picture with the bay window) which now has a flat screen tv above the fire place. The ensuite is small which we coped with but our shower was rather temperamental. The door was a struggle to close and at times the water pressure would cut out and the shower would run cold water until it fixed itself. There is a good breakfast selection, however we were always asked to pick a time for breakfast and even though we turned up at that time, we were often left waiting or offered to sit with another couple! If the breakfast time was extended, I feel this would easily be sorted out. The B&B itself is very well situated, walking distance from the town centre and the castle. We drove (but you can take a bus) to the Wallace monument within 5 mins. I even think for those who didn't have cars, Mandy would offer a lift to, which is above and beyond what you would expect from a B&B.

Room Tip: We had room 6, gorgeous but dodgy shower!

We had a room in the second house at the back and by looking at the photos on TripAdvisor it looks like there are other rooms in the main building which look more cosy.

Still, our room was clean and everything was functional, but with no WIFI - the only comment I would have is that we felt a little rushed in by the owner: this was clearly "run as a business" and there was no real effort to do a little more.
