Didn't expect five star treatment after reading previous reviews, but went there open minded with my three work colleagues. Expected long wait for our meal as it was Saturday night. Staff made us aware about 45 minutes wait, but starters arrived after 10 minutes and main followed after around half an hour. It was quality of food that deserves less than one star only. Everything was just over cooked and all of us agreed on this one. This place concentrates on quantity of meat and not on quality or service. Not even once we were asked if we enjoyed our food or maybe if was our hardly touched plates which spoke volumes? What can I say, we won't be going there again. This place got potential, food menu is extensive, cheaper than Weatherspoon's, nice area. They could include few healthy choices as not everybody is a big meat eater. It wasn't busy, so it means that either they are seriously short staffed and can't cope with cooking food properly or maybe it is time to change the cook? Don't know the answers. Won't be going back to find out even. Seriously disappointed.

Having been to the Upper Boat and had a terrible meal on a Sunday i decided to try The Pottery and what a pleasant experience ,the place was warm comfortable and friendly ,we soon found seating although busy it was easy to move about there was a good selection of drinks on display and we were soon seated ,however here was the pitfall a lack of staff one guy and two girls who were trying to cope with a large number of people .i waited app 10 mins to get served and was informed it would be a 40 min wait for food but it arrived in 25mins .The food was excellent on warm plates all in all it is the place i will return to again and would be happy to recommend Well done

On the poitive side it's quite spacious but if you visit be careful where you sit as opening/closing doors can be drafty. For beer/lager an average choice but not too many such choices. Staff are welcoming and friendly on the whole.
Myself, wife & son visited today for a lunch time meal, overall quite disappointing i thought. On the plus side the ribs were tasty but everything else very average or poor. My sons vegetarian korma option looked so plain that it's wonder any vegetarian would want it but he did say it was tasty. My wife's meal of steak/ribs she said was nice. My meal was poor overall, the 6oz steak was actually 2 pieces, 1x4oz & 1x2oz i'g guess. The 2oz was half chewy fat and half too tough. The 4oz was fine. The scampy were black/burnt on the underside and stuck to the sizzler which, true to form, was clearly sizzling hot when it reached me. Personally i don't really appreciate the 'sizzler' as it's a health hazard to diners (& children's wandering hands) but some places seem to think it's attractive to customers? I think the problem with the scampi was that they were already cooked fully when they were 'sizzlered' (plated) and with such a hot 'sizzler' they then burnt pre delivery and actually stuck to the 'sizzler'. I complained and the waiter ordered me more but, although i agreed to replacement, by the time they'd arrived i'd eaten the remainder of my meal (by the way the meals aren't 'man size') so to eat a bowl of scampi then was none too pleasant even though they were perfectly cooked so i left half of them. In hindsight i ought to have asked for a refund or should have been offered a replacement meal or a refund but i wasn't.
Will i visit again? No, don't think i will to be honest, there are definitely better places to eat.

This is the second visit I have paid to the pottery, But New Years Eve , My family was looking for a place for a nice meal, and to come back home, to bring the new year in, the pottery was the only one that came up trumps, we phoned a few local places, some were asking £30 a head, how ridiculous was that, in the pottery there was a fabulous atmosphere, the food was brilliant, and there was no charge as it was a festive season, and the prices was very reasonable, and the quantities are plentiful, although it was very busy there, we still didn't have too long to wait. Good food, Lovely staff and not expensive, what more could you ask for..Good on you The Pottery and long may you prosper..
