Superbly located to access Saundersfoot and the surrounding towns and attractions. A well kept guesthouse ideal for couples and families alike run by a lovely family who made us very welcome. Would definitely recommend a visit!

Friendly welcome, tea on arrival, great rooms, excellent breakfast - who could ask for more except for location which again was excellent being only a very short walk from the hotel to the town centre shops and beach

Let's face it, paying just over £100 for a 2 night stay in Saundersfoot on a busy weekend I was not expecting the Ritz and indeed the Ritz it is not, however it does not pretend to be a high end hotel either. The hotel is in a good location, as long as you don't mind a hill, to explore Saundersfoot. There is also a regular bus link into Tenby from the town which takes around 12 minutes.
First impressions of the hotel were good with a large garden with tables, chairs and sun loungers with a good children's play area. There was also a hot tub outside along with a small indoor swimming area along with a lounge and tv area with comfortable settees.
We were shown to our room which was spacious and clean. There was an en-suite that was stocked with shampoo and body wash. The room also had plenty of storage and a fridge which proved very handy as it was a warm weekend.
After reading the previous reviews I was dreading this weekend in this hotel but I found it to be clean, comfortable and extremely good value for money. If you are expecting a 5 star establishment then book one, if you want somewhere to lay your head and explore wonderful Pembrokeshire, you can't go far wrong with the Malin House Hotel!

I stayed here with my partner and can honestly say we will not be returning. Arrived at the hotel after an 8 hour journey to be insulted by the the manager I presume about the area we had just travelled from, not a good start! Room although spacious was dirty and old fashioned. Bed definatley hadnt been laundered, had crumbs and pubic hair in and bathroom dirty. Was told they were training a new member of staff (that old chestnut). Manageress was miserable and one young lad who was on reception was walking around barefoot. TV Lounge was more like there own personal lounge with photos of family pets, grandchildren etc over all the walls. Yes i understand you live there and dont want to live in say a Travel Lodge, but this is your business and theres a fine line between personalising your business and over personalising which makes people feel uncomfortable. Pool table what a joke, no tips on the cues, just a bit of wood and a mixture of pool and snooker balls. Come on guys, how much would it cost to invest in replacements. As with the games etc, everything was dirty and broken. If you are going to offer a facillity then offer it and be prepared to maintain it. Pool must have been done before Health and Safety Regulations as the walkway at the side was narrow and dangerous. You had to order breakfast night before - really?! And for what they were charging - No way! We did find a lovely cafe at the end of the road though that provided a superb breakfast for under £5. If you are going to call yourself a hotel then offer hotel services. No sign of bar or restaurant and in the evenings - no sign of anyone. Ridiculous. We both said when we checked out - Never again.

Room Tip: Dont waste your money - Go somewhere else

If you expect hotel standards at Malin House you will be disappointed. Myself and cousin arrived on a Sunday and stayed for seven nights, visiting the area for the first time and in hindsight we should have requested a refund and moved on. The towels were changed once (on request) the bath mat changed once on the Friday, the bathroom sink, toilet cleaned only once on the Friday, only once were the beds made up properly and the bed linen was never changed. The bathroom stunk with obvious amounts of bleach to try and mask drain smells, the water in sink and shower drained away very slowly, this was brought to their attention and after supposedly 'plunging' there was a little! improvement but we still had to buy an air freshener to put in bathroom. Everywhere looked 'tired' needing a good clean and updated. The testing on portable appliances was out of date ('PAT' stickers on plugs - date 2008) which makes one wonder when they last had a fire reg. inspection. Positives - excellent breakfast, proprietors nice and friendly, room spacious with advantage of kitchenette area, beds comfortable. Would we recommend NO, I've recently been travelling overseas for 5 months and to be honest the hotels in places such as Cambodia were of a better standard and service.

My daughter and I booked a 3 night stay at Malin House for a bit of R and R. The reviews looked impressive and the photographs appeared to be quite decent and as there was a pool I thought if the weather wasn't particularly good at least we would have something to do!! I can't tell you how disappointed both my daughter and I were with the whole experience! The hotel is exceptionally tired and in need of updating and the room we were given bore absolutely no similarity to the photographs advertised. It was drab, dreary, poorly decorated and downright depressing. There were drains in the bathroom that utterly stank the room out and the toilet smelt of stale urine!! The room was not soundproofed and by two slamming fire doors that were so loud that it was like they were in the room with you!! The pool left a lot to be desired...once we had wound the cover back it was not particularly clean looking and we did venture in but my daughter said I don't think I want to use this again and I had to agree. I bought ear plugs, drain cleaner and air freshener....not what you would expect to buy to make your holiday bearable. After one night we complained and were able to have a full refund and book into a far superior hotel at the same cost!! I would not recommend this to anyone. It is a great shame because the location is ok and with some proper investment and some TLC this place has the potential to be exceptional but sadly without any investment that day is a long way off. Sorry but I cannot recommend this hotel in its current state.

Stayed for two nights at the Malin. Chris and Jan were (owners) were two of the most sweet genuine caring people i have met. they were ever so kind helping me out transporting me to an important engagement and back and forth to transport stops which is not expected as part of the service. so i would of been stuck with out their generosity as the taxi fare was so expensive in the area. the hotel itself was beautiful, room was very spacious and very clean with a VERY comfy bed, TV with free-view, fridge and a lovely on suite. The view from my room was beautiful (sea view !!). i recommend this hotel and facilities to anyone wanting to stay in Saundersfoot. I will be back very soon hopefully.
