Stayed at the Merlewood for a week Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. We had a 5 year old in our party and she had a varied diet. Enjoyed breakfast and the evening meals, the desserts exceptional in my case Pool was fresh but we all enjoyed a swim. Lovely view from the hotel just a warning its a steep hill to walk back up. Great week thanks

We have stayed here now for a week each Summer for over 16 years. We always get a really warm welcome from the staff. The hotel is in a lovely location and with the great views over the village it's lovely to sit out on an afternoon on the decked area or by the pool. The rooms are all ensuite either with bath or shower or both. There are also a number of family rooms and children are welcomed warmly at this hotel. There is also entertainment, this year there was entertainment every night. It's a two star hotel which offers good value for money. We look forward to going back next year if not before!

Situated on coastal hill with a delightful view of the coast and bay. Rooms spotless, beds very comfortable and bedding clean, crisp and well presented. Food good. All Staff very pleasant and helpfull. Very good entertainment ( lounge and dance floor needs some attention ). My son and I thoroughly enjoyed our 4 night stay and will return again next year.

we stayed at the hotel last weekend for one night, the rooms were clean and the reception staff were friendly and helpful, the bar was basic but the terrace outside had a lovely view of the bay. I feel that the hotel is in need of modernising and we were supprised that there were no soap or shower gels of any sort provided in the bathroom as although this gesture is complementary we have never come across a hotel that has not provided these, we were however pleased with the buffet breakfast

This hotel deserves to be upgraded to a 3*, yes the décor was slightly dated but the service, cleanliness of the rooms, efficiency of the staff and the more than adequate delicious plentiful breakfast outshone the 2* rating it currently has. The bedroom was comfortable with all the facilities required, the bathroom was spacious with a fantastic shower and no end of hot water. We had no trouble with noise, in fact quite the opposite. Plenty of parking with a bus stop less than two minutes away. The walk up the hill was quite steep but as it only took a few minutes it was perfectly manageable, although not for wheel chair users. I would return to this hotel and have already recommended it to a neighbour.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 26 this was at the end of the corridor, there was no view but very quiet.

We stayed here 30 years ago and had the best holiday we have ever had , When we returned last week we thought it would have not been such a good experience but we couldn't fault it in any way.
Spotlessly clean, lovely staff and a very nice breakfast and nothing is too much trouble for them. We would stay here again and again !!

Lovely location, but at the top of a steep hill, so if you are walking into town beware. The room was on the small side, and the bathroom floor hadn't been mopped and had some worrying stains, there was thick dust on the light above the sink and the walls were very thin, so it was extremely noisy, so don't expect to sleep. The breakfast was a buffet breakfast and it was cold, the staff were friendly and helpful and would get things you asked for, but I asked for bread and it was very dried up and too dry to eat. Lovely terrace and pool area. The hotel would benefit from a face lift and also more entertainment in the evenings.
