The real charm of this hotel lies in it's wonderful view and the exceptional staff, very friendly, highly accommodating and you are always greeted with a warm smile! Big shout out to Richard - Top bar man. Look past the tired decoration and trimmings and you will appreciate the 5 star service on offer. This hotel is very clean, I had a great night's sleep, received a wonderful service with my great breakfast. If you are all about the packaging this place may not be for you, but it you love to check out with a smile on your face give this affordable gem a go, very reasonable for a 2* hotel!

Room Tip: Room overlooking the pool, indulge yourself with that wonderful view!

The Merlewood is a great located hotel though on a top of a hill not to far to walk back from an evening meal in Saundersfoot. The hotel on arrival was quite impressive.Greeted warmly on reception, this was the last time I can say we really saw anyone other then when we had to ring the bell for a drink as no one was around and then the receptionist had to get up to service us.We went down for morning coffee on the decking at 7 am only to have to go back up the room as again no one around. The hotel it's self needs updating, there is a certain lived in smell ,however it is reasonably clean. Our bathroom have mold around the bath area(room 21) and the room's furniture was tired and out dated pine. The windows were misted up due to condensation. The bed linen however was clean and fresh. The carpets need replacing. The pool area needed weeding thought the water was clean. With a little tlc and staff around this would be an exceptional hotel as the views were to die for.

Just had a short stay in this hotel the only things i can fault is that bar prices are over the top .Nice bar area but wasted as there was nothing going on .Pool area needs a tidy up as weeds going up through the paving.Rooms are ok clean and tidy. Also food a little pricey.BEWARE THIS HOTEL IS AT THE TOP OF A VERY STEEP HILL

Room Tip: ASK for seaview

Just had a ten night stay at this great hotel. We have stayed here a number of occasions previously and as we were having our first holiday for a number of years, we thought it would be nice to return here again. We were not disappointed. The Hotel is clean and tidy and nothing is too much trouble for the management and staff. It is at the top of a rather steep hill but don't be put off by this as there bus which stops outside going to the village or Tenby, and the local taxis are reasonably priced..The food cannot be faulted and hopefully we will back again soon.A sincere thank you for helping to make our holiday what it was.

Room Tip: Dont always need a room with a view as you will be out and about.

My wife & I spent a night at Merlewood Hotel at the end of May. I have no complaints at all. The price we paid was very reasonable, the room was of a good standard & the location is almost perfect. Saundersfoot is a short walk (5-10 mins). As Merlewood is on the top of a hill, you walk down the hill into Saundersfoot but you have to walk back up it to get back. It's fine if you are fit & healthy but I'm not sure I'd recommend it to anyone who has difficulty walking. We will definitely stay again.

Room Tip: If you are planning on eating out in a Saundersfoot restaurant, it is advisable to book well in adva...

A clean and well-run hotel. Nothing too much trouble for some hard-working and very pleasant staff.
Not posh at all - quite basic but not tatty and a nice place to be.
The view from the bar area and pool are stunning!

We have recently returned from a weeks holiday at this Hotel ( June 21st - 27th) with a Shearings Coach holiday. We had a spacious double room, recently refurnished and spotlessly clean The Dining room and the meals were fine. The cooked breakfast every day with cereals, yoghurts, fruit juice and toast was great. The evening meals had a very good choice and always a fish dish was included.
The staff were very friendly and helpful especially Steve and his sister Helen. It is a 2 star Hotel but really deserves to be at least a 3 star. The swimming pool and terraces were a delight to sit around and the weather was perfect.
It was very nice of the Hotel staff to wave us goodbye when the coach left.
