Just returned from staying at Woodlands hotel, Nicole and Mark are lovely people so welcoming. The rooms are spotless clean, lovely presented everything you need. Breakfast was excellent a real home from home food, nothing is to much trouble. The garden is beautiful and the dogs are just fab. I will definitely be staying here again and will highly recommend it.
Thank you Nicole and Mark

We have just returned from a week's stay at the Woodlands - our first visit - and cannot praise Nicole and Mark enough! The hotel is clean, fresh and pleasantly decorated. The welcome was warm and sincere. The breakfasts are amazing whether you want the "full Welsh" or just toast and cereal there is something for everyone. There is an evening meal available if you prebook and what a treat that is! Beware - take clothes with expandable waistlines! If you choose not to eat at the hotel in the evening Nicole and Mark are more than happy to recommend other restaurants in the village. They are very knowledgable about the area and are available to give you any advice you need. The hotel is on quite a steep hill from the village but don't let that put you off - there is a handy rail to cling on to if you are struggling and coincidentally there is a fabulous view of the harbour to enjoy while you get your breath back!
We tend to tour the area in the morning returning to the hotel at 3 ish for a wind down and a read - this was no problem as the lovingly tended gardens are available for your use - you may have to entertain the dogs though!
All in all a fabulous holiday which was everything we wanted and more besides. We would not hesitate to recommend it to others.

All I can say is that the negative comments regarding the Woodlands Hotel are so far removed from the actual truth that I feel the writer was most definitely at a different hotel. ( "chickincheltenham"). It is interesting to note that this review is perhaps one of only three negative reviews out of many brilliant ones. We stayed at the Woodlands Hotel for 3 days, it is one of the nicest two-star hotels we have ever stayed at. The town, beach and restaurants are easily accessed down a fairly steep hill but the walk back up is bracing rather than arduous. When we arrived we were warmly welcomed by Nicole the proprietor and it was obvious that she enjoyed settling us in and telling us all that we needed to know about the hotel and the walks and beauty spots and various eateries in the area. The hotel is comfortable and homely, fresh and spotlessly clean throughout. Our room was on the top floor and as we made our way upstairs we were able to see some of the rooms which were vacant including the room which has been criticised by a previous reviewer as not having a sea view and having to stand on the bed to see it, which is quite frankly ridiculous!!. Breakfast was superb, very tasty cooked to perfection every time, mushrooms to die for! Nicole what is your secret?. I don't normally eat a cooked breakfast every day of my holidays but usually like to vary it with cereals but I just could not resist Nicole's Welsh breakfasts they were so nice always perfectly cooked and presented. We would not hesitate to recommend the Woodlands to our friends and family. It may only be 2 stars but it certainly excels all expectations and provides all that is necessary to enjoy a comfortable, relaxing and pleasant holiday. Plus, Mark and Nicole are very helpful and welcoming. Oh and the prices are good too.

My wife and I have stayed many times at the Woodlands. Nichole and Mark run a tidy well kept guest house with good food, comfortable rooms and a small bar for winding down in the evening.
We stayed jubilee weekend for 4 nights. The place was full but this did NOT mean the service suffered.
Breakfast was as good as before. It was served promptly and was well presented.
The hotel has a super large well stocked garden, ideal for sitting out with a beer or a glass of wine when the sunshines. Nichole will do evening meals as and when required and we can recommend them.
Enjoy your stay but prepare to diet when you get home.

Me and my girlfirend stayed here for the weekend and had a lovely time.
We arrived to a friendly welcome by mark and were showed to our room, and to our surprise had the biggest bed in the hotel. Result! The bathroom was a good size and the shower was amazing.
Unlike some hotels, we were given a key to the front door and were told that the hotel doors are shut at 11 however we were more than welcome to come in at what ever time we wanted (providing we were quiet obviously).
On to the breakfast ... We were sat down to a choice of cereals and fruit juice and given a menu, of course i had to choose the "full welsh breakfast". I wasn't dissapointed, well presented and very filling.
On the second night we decided to stay in the bar area and have a couple of drinks with the rest of the guests, we had a lovely night and met some really nice people.
My only regret is that we didn't have dinner there as we were told about some lovely restaraunts in town, so we had to try them. However if the breakfast is anything to go by i'm sure the evening meals are just as great!

Mark himself is a very friendly and welcoming man, who recommened a few places to see/do, he didn't hesitate to help us.
Will deffinately be staying there again.

Room Tip: Room 1 Has the big bed!
