We were made to feel very welcome on our arrival and nothing was too much trouble. Always looking to help as we have a young son. The room was great. Very clean and the shower had plenty of hot water. Breakfast was great. Full Welsh Breakfast as well as a good selection of cereals. Large lawn at rear of property with a patio area to enjoy a drink from the bar on a sunny day. Would definately stay again. No hesitation to recommend. Found the pillows pretty firm though.

My wife and I have just returned from a five night stay at the Woodlands. What an excellent small hotel. The hosts Nicole and Mark are exceptionally accommodating, nothing is too much trouble for them.
The hotel is very clean and we had an excellent room. The only small gripe was that the shower needed some patience to obtain a steady supply of water at a constant temperature.
A good breakfast, freshly cooked and you should try the evening meals. There is a good choice of meals for the evening, you have to order in the morning as they are freshly prepared and cooked by Nicole for you. The best food in Saundersfoot!!
The hotel has a small well stocked bar with draught beer and lager and if you wish you can enjoy a convivial evening chatting to other guests.
A pity the weather was not at its best to enjoy the pleasant garden.
We would recommend to anyone.

Room Tip: Room 9, King size bed, good view. Thought traffic noise would be a problem but it wasn't.

We have just returned from a week's stay at the Woodlands - our first visit - and cannot praise Nicole and Mark enough! The hotel is clean, fresh and pleasantly decorated. The welcome was warm and sincere. The breakfasts are amazing whether you want the "full Welsh" or just toast and cereal there is something for everyone. There is an evening meal available if you prebook and what a treat that is! Beware - take clothes with expandable waistlines! If you choose not to eat at the hotel in the evening Nicole and Mark are more than happy to recommend other restaurants in the village. They are very knowledgable about the area and are available to give you any advice you need. The hotel is on quite a steep hill from the village but don't let that put you off - there is a handy rail to cling on to if you are struggling and coincidentally there is a fabulous view of the harbour to enjoy while you get your breath back!
We tend to tour the area in the morning returning to the hotel at 3 ish for a wind down and a read - this was no problem as the lovingly tended gardens are available for your use - you may have to entertain the dogs though!
All in all a fabulous holiday which was everything we wanted and more besides. We would not hesitate to recommend it to others.

All I can say is that the negative comments regarding the Woodlands Hotel are so far removed from the actual truth that I feel the writer was most definitely at a different hotel. ( "chickincheltenham"). It is interesting to note that this review is perhaps one of only three negative reviews out of many brilliant ones. We stayed at the Woodlands Hotel for 3 days, it is one of the nicest two-star hotels we have ever stayed at. The town, beach and restaurants are easily accessed down a fairly steep hill but the walk back up is bracing rather than arduous. When we arrived we were warmly welcomed by Nicole the proprietor and it was obvious that she enjoyed settling us in and telling us all that we needed to know about the hotel and the walks and beauty spots and various eateries in the area. The hotel is comfortable and homely, fresh and spotlessly clean throughout. Our room was on the top floor and as we made our way upstairs we were able to see some of the rooms which were vacant including the room which has been criticised by a previous reviewer as not having a sea view and having to stand on the bed to see it, which is quite frankly ridiculous!!. Breakfast was superb, very tasty cooked to perfection every time, mushrooms to die for! Nicole what is your secret?. I don't normally eat a cooked breakfast every day of my holidays but usually like to vary it with cereals but I just could not resist Nicole's Welsh breakfasts they were so nice always perfectly cooked and presented. We would not hesitate to recommend the Woodlands to our friends and family. It may only be 2 stars but it certainly excels all expectations and provides all that is necessary to enjoy a comfortable, relaxing and pleasant holiday. Plus, Mark and Nicole are very helpful and welcoming. Oh and the prices are good too.

My wife and I have stayed many times at the Woodlands. Nichole and Mark run a tidy well kept guest house with good food, comfortable rooms and a small bar for winding down in the evening.
We stayed jubilee weekend for 4 nights. The place was full but this did NOT mean the service suffered.
Breakfast was as good as before. It was served promptly and was well presented.
The hotel has a super large well stocked garden, ideal for sitting out with a beer or a glass of wine when the sunshines. Nichole will do evening meals as and when required and we can recommend them.
Enjoy your stay but prepare to diet when you get home.
