wonderful break very much a place to chill out and relax, staff very friendly, setting superb, cabin excellent had everything you would need, nice walks nearby, hot tub was fun as we had not ordered a cabin with one but was upgraded as cabin of our type being renovated, one down side if you react to insect (midge)bites take cream, apart from that could not recommend it more. Hope to visit again soon.

Just got back from a 4 night break in a silver birch cabin. Really enjoyed it, cabin was mostly clean, well equipped and the new on demand TV system is brilliant! Loved having a private hot tub. Had pizza from the forest retreat which was extremely good and fish and chips from the Wednesday van which were also tasty. Would have given this five stars but for the broken flush button, no waste trap and small amount of mould in the overflow in the ensuite bathroom. Bonus being dog friendly but glad was free for the dog in May- £10 per dog per day is really expensive! Also it's a bit mean to charge people for baby extras. There was no bath and no room for a baby bath in the car so had to wash the baby in the shower.

We came across forest holidays when buying our dog and wanted a dog friendly holiday. We had a lovely time and our dog loved it as much as the children. We got a great deal and we will be returning to other forests in the future. Be aware there is no phone signal which was great for switching off from the outside world but our son had an accident and needed to go A&E and i was left in the cabin with our other child and dog without knowing what was going on so if you have children its something to be aware of.

We spent 1 week in a silver birch cabin in Keldy late April 2014. The cabin was well equipped, clean & a good size. The hot tub was our highlight - we used it at 10 pm every night after most other folks had turned in for the evening, and was great whatever the weather. Staff were friendly, and considering only 50 something lodges on the site the reception/coffee shop/shop was well stocked. We didn't try it but a fish & chip van calls by twice a week. Nice walks in adjoining countryside, although some of the trail marking could do with improvement. We'd particularly recommend the 3-4 mile walk into Cropton & a visit to The New Inn. in case anyone is trying to decide whether to stay at Forest Holiday's Keldy or Cropton sites, contrary to the map on the FH web site the two sites are only about a two mile walk apart!

We went to join our family who were staying there for the week and we were impressed with the layout of the cabin. It was pleasant and comfortable and for anyone who likes the countryside and tranquility this is the place. Helmsley, Pickering and Harome are well worth a visit should you wish to eat out. The highlight of the cabin for me was the hot tub, relaxing with a glass of wine! Perfect.

Room Tip: We stayed in The Golden Oak cabin which has a lovely open view at the front.

We just returned from a four day break at Keldy and were bowled over by the forest location, the quality and comfort of the log cabin with a great hot tub on the outdoor deck and friendly and helpful staff. This is a must if you have a dog: there are lots of covered poo bins, great forest walks and designated pet-friendly cabins. We had our dog on lead for most of the time although there are some great open areas where he could run to his heart's content. For us, it was the ideal place to unwind, you felt completely off the grid as there is no mobile phone signal, the nearest town (Pickering) is about 4 miles away and while there is a very slow wi-fi connection in reception it was hardly worth using it. An amazing place and we are looking forward to returning.

Room Tip: We stayed in log cabin 31 which is adjacent to forest land - ideal if you have a dog

Just returned from a fantastic long weekend break in a silver birch cabin in Keldy. So impressed with the standard of our cabin, very clean, very cosy but yet spacious and very pretty. Stayed in cabin 40, lovely location. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Travelled with 11 year old and 15 year old who both thoroughly enjoyed the trip. Visited Pickering on Saturday where kids played in a park and then hot tub on the night, loved the hot tub! On Sunday we visited Go Ape which was very good value for money and would definitely recommend it!
Overall we really enjoyed our stay and we are already planning our next break.

Thank you for your review following your recent family break at Keldy. I am pleased that you enjoyed your holiday and also that the children did too - they can be hard to please at that age but there is always something for them to in the forest. We look forward to seeing you again.
