We spent a magical 4 days with Ann and Colin at The Old Smithy - never to be forgotten. Amazing hosts, beautiful cottage, stunning scenery. Ann and Colin could not have done more to make our stay more perfect. Breakfast and attention to detail was exemplary.

The Old Smithy and Ann's Cottage has to be the BEST accommodation in Yorkshire. You get a cottage of your choice on a B&B tariff, self catering is an option but why bother, Ann and Colin's breakfast is so delicious, delivered to your cottage each morning. We always order the Full Yorkshire Breakfast.....Quality produce sourced locally....cooked to perfection.....Bacon, Sausage, black pudding, mushrooms, tomato, free range eggs.... coupled with warm brown and white loaves from the local bakery. The kitchen cupboards are stocked with cereals, speciality teas and coffees.....and in the fridge, you will find prepared melon, yogurt, marmalade, orange juice in a glass bottle, and a pint of milk delivered by the local Milkman. This is 5 Star accommodation, Ann and Colin have worked so hard to satisfy their guests and they have achieved an excellent rating from all of them, as you can see from all reviews. The furniture, bedding, kitchen and bathroom is 1st class.....and spotlessly clean...In the Winter months, Colin lights the wood burning stoves to welcome you back......Time to Relax..... Enjoy their complimentary fruit bowl....a coffee or a couple of glasses of wine you may have chilling....Can't wait to return.....HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.....

Just come back from another delightful visit to The Old Smithy and the warm hospitality of Ann and Colin. Everything was perfect as we have come to expect and we were able to relax straight away in front of the roaring log fire. We also had a glimpse of Anns Cottage which is the other accommodation that Ann and Colin offer. A gorgeous little hideaway with its own private garden and entrance. Beautiful scenery and peace and quiet with top class accommodation and delicious breakfasts delivered to your own private kitchen door. Who could ask for more!!! We have already re-booked for next year and our 4th visit.

Room Tip: the old smthy larger however Anns Cottage is compact and has all you need for a perfect stay.

we have stayed twice in the old Smithy and have already booked for next year. The place is perfect, The hosts are fab, attentive yet you have the utmost privacy. A wonderful place to stay and explore the area. Rosedale and the surrounding areas are full of wonderful sights and its a peaceful place to recharge your batteries. Breakfasts are fantastic and the routine is easy and works well - your breakfast is served to you in your own private kitchen.

Moors kitchen - run by local ladies is a fab way to eat in - freshly prepared food delivered at a time to suit and at a very reasonable price.

Room Tip: The old Smithy is where we stayed but there is also Anns Cottage adjacent.

Well where do i start, the minute we arrived we were greeted by Ann & Colin the owners as though we were long lost friends, they invited us into their kitchen for a cup of tea & a catch up since we saw them last. (this is the second time we have been)
The Old Smithy is a wonderful place with its country style kitchen with cupboards full of all types of cereal, tea & coffee, the fridge was filled with melon, orange juice ,milk, yogurts, marmalade, butter & sauces. We stayed B&B and both mornings had a choice of what to have from either a large farmhouse breakfast, kippers, scrambled egg & salmon, you also get a half & half loaf of white & brown bread still warm from the oven. There is a huge lounge with 2 x 3 seater sofa`s which are ideal to curl up in after a long day. The bathroom is again spacious with a lovely shower & the bed is so comfortable you don`t really want to get out of it!
The area is one of real beauty & the views are lovely. I can highly recommend The Lion Inn at Blakey Ridge for a lovely bar meal or Al Carte Meal, or just to chill out in front of the open fire.
