We stayed for one night in this lovely hotel in Pickering.
From arriving our stay there was great. The lady on reception couldn't have been more helpfull. There's a lovely bar where we relaxed for a while before getting ready to explore the village of Pickering which is very quaint and pretty. Room was very clean, had everything we needed and the bed was extremely comfy. Would definitely like to visit here again :)

Well situated in the centre of Pickering a great place for exploring the North York Moors, Scarborough, Whitby and "Heartbeat" country. We were given a superior room (without asking to be upgraded) which overlooked the garden. A very comfortable and quiet stay with friendly service from all the staff.

A very friendly informal atmosphere, with clean comfortable rooms ensures a great stay. Restaurant serves food at reasonable hotel prices. Good choice at breakfast including kippers, cooked meats and cheese as well as the usual stuff. We used it to visit Whitby via the NY Yorks rail.

Spent a couple of days here. Arrived early before our check in time but room was ready and were shown straight to it. Very pleasant staff especially Ben in the bar who was extremely friendly. We had a bar meal which was very good and prices for food and drink were extremely reasonable. We stayed in an executive room which we found a bit on the small side and dry tired and could have been so much better if the tele was mounted on the wall and the chairs and table were positioned better. Also don't bring any clothes on coat hangers as there is no hanging rail and you will have to take them all off and re hang them on their angled system. Really frustrating ! Also the bathroom was really small and not enough space to put out 2 persons toiletries so had to keep them in the bedroom. Also the shower hose was filthy . Full of lime scale and build up. It takes 2 minutes to clean these with a lime scale remover and always wonder why hotels don't keep on top of this together with the tile grouting. The bed was comfortable and on the whole the hotel did the job. This was room 7 so maybe the other rooms are slightly different ?

This is a pleasant hotel, a bit dated but very nice. The staff are friendly and very helpful. My room was a little overpriced but well equipped and decorated. However on a warm humid June day there wasn't a single window open in the bar or restaurant - it was sweltering! There was a similar problem in my room and the only ventilation (in a ground floor room by the footpath) was by lifting a bottom sash window, hardly a secure option, as the top window was well painted shut.

All in though a nice place to stay and I'm sure it would be warm and cosy in winter.

Room Tip: Get off the ground floor so an open window won't be an instant invitation to a thief.

We booked a 2 night stay in an executive room £119 per night. What exactly was executive about it remains a mystery! It was so small/basic (although it was clean). There was also quite a noise from the central heating too. Anyway despite the room we were looking forward to a good hearty breakfast, however , when it came it was swimming in water and there was just one sausage , one piece of bacon, cheap poor quality mushrooms and half slice of fried bread. It was disgusting and my partner couldn't eat her scrambled egg which was water logged also. The bar prices were very overpriced £2.95 for pot of tea! I expect to pay a little more but that is extortionate! We had hoped for a lovely relaxing weekend with a nice room and lovely food but it couldnt have been more dissapointing! I would not recommend going to this hotel!
