“nice location-what a shame about everything else”

The first time and -fingers crossed- the only time we feel the need to warn others. Feeling rather robbed at the moment! This beautiful site is currently a complete building site-there is no peaceful forest to be enjoyed here AT ALL. I tried e mailing customer services first as we have never reviewed anything before and would never ever dream of writing anything bad without first approaching site itself with concerns. Have tried this evening to e mail them but all messages returned undelivered. Felt we must warn people. When we booked NO mention of the work. And boy are they doing work. Site surrounded by very noisy diggers etc which work all day from early!!! There were people turning around going elsewhere but we did not really have that option. Truly be warned.
Other than this never seen such utterly mucky loos- believe me you do not want to know the details! Staff seem nice enough but utterly over whelmed.
They should not be taking bookings. At the very least at heftily reduced rates with a clear warning of what to expect.
I did take lots of photos however when I got home in the cold light of day felt a bit odd that I had taken pictures of **** encrusted loos etc and decided to delete the lot and move on!!

We have just spent 3 nights camping in our van at this campsite and was a little disappointed in it. When we arrived, instead of it being a nice quiet forest retreat, it was like driving onto a busy building site with big diggers everywhere!

Our pitch was right near the main bit of building site ( they are building 21 log cabins) and we was woken at 7am bt the sound of drilling and lorries going past.

The facilities were ok and I thought the toilets were kept fairly clean and the shop had some nice food stocked

Overall, I am not the sort of person to complain but felt a bit cheated as having paid quite a bit for 3 nights camping in a forest retreat and instead got 3 nights camping on a busy building site! The fact the management did not inform us of this, I don't think we will go back to this particular campsite again.

Booked in for the whole of Whit week. Packed in with several other tents on a strip of land next to the building site. Changed site Tuesday when the construction work started & further heavy plant was delivered to site.
Very poorly managed by head office - either arrogant they could keep the money rolling in or incompetent not foreseeing problems. Site staff were great and did well to manage a bad situation.

Stayed on the site for three nights, due to the cold weather we were one of only two tents on the site (there were also several caravans).

We had booked a standard grass pitch, but on arrival they told us to use one of the electric hook up pitches as they would be carrying out work by the standard grass pitches. They also said to feel free to use the electric at no extra cost, which we were very grateful of due to the cold weather.

The staff on site were helpful and freindly through out our stay, always happy to answer any questions or point you in the right direction.

The toilet and shower block could of been cleaner and not all the lights worked, but this wouldn't put me off returning.

The toilets weren't cleaned enough, the amount of construction work was enough to close the site. No warning was given neither was a discount.
Some of the toilet cubicles had no toilet roll. The soap dispensers were empty.
Very poor for such a price.
Staff were friendly.

We have been camping on this site for the last 10 years. This year is the first time we have had our own caravan. Luckily with the extra storage, we were able to bring more with us, which we was glad of. The shop on site, which used to be quite well stocked, had barely anything in, not a single item of bread, of any description, and it was only about 10.30am, so not like they had all day to sell it. Very little of anything else either.
The toilets were always out of loo roll and hand wash, and were not very clean. This was quite a dissapointment as they had previously always been spotless.
We booked this bank holiday break, months ago, and arrived on site early friday to be told there was some construction work on. The site was like a building site on 2 sides, so they had crambed everbody in as the fields were fenced of. We were not advised of this before we travelled, and would of thought this would have reflected in the price.
Luckily the weather was brilliant, and despite the fact, the staff seem to be focussing on the cabins on the site, rather than the campers. We had a lovely stay, and will still go back again.
