“Couldn't fault it”
Reviewed 12 December 2011

After reading some reviews about how rude the proprietor was on T.A. , I was a little apprehensive about the place. However, the staff couldn't have been more pleasant and helpful and, as the food was excellent and the beer good, I couldn't fault the place and would have no reservations about returning or recommending it as a place to eat.

Dinner was bad, not tasty at all and chicken was very dry. It was November and cold outside, but heating didn't work. In the morning it was very cold. Bathroom floor felt like we were walking on ice. Owner was friendly in the evening, but had a bad attitude the next monring. Later when we told about the cold room, there was no response. We could just pay and leave. Not recommonded.

Have visited this place many years ago and what a transformation! My partner and I stayed in room 3 at the front of the hotel so we could get the super view in the morning. Room 3 also has a large bathroom with double shower. My mum had room 7 at the back, it had a balcony which would be nice weather permitting and a small shower room. Overall, we enjoyed our stay, Upon arrival on Thursday evening to our departure, we felt welcome. The meals are brilliant, good winter warming grub that arrives in huge portions!!! The cheese board (we shared) is big enough for 2 with a nice selection.
Rosedale is in a perfect place to visit neighbouring towns, Goathland (Aidensfield in Heartbeat) is only a short drive away over the moorland. Whitby and Scarborough are also nearby and gives you plenty of places to visit during your stay.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our weekend and hope to revisit soon. Thank you all at White Horse.

Room Tip: If you like a large bathroom, ask for room 3. Also the view from the front is breathtaking, ask for...

Me and a group of friends stayed here for a long weekend upon recommendation and it lived up to what we were told.

We felt very welcome as soon as we walked through the door by the staff and customers in the pub. The pub itself is old and amazing with a great feel and atmosphere to it.

We had dinner here 3 nights and it was spot on each time. So fresh and mouthwatering, and the service is of high standard.

We will all definitely be going back and brining more friends.
